Cochran Supported Judge Sonia Sotomayor in 1998
May 26, 2009
Barack Obama’s pick to be the next Supeme Court justice, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, has faced the Senate before, and won the support of several Republicans the last time around in 1998.
One of those Republicans was Sen. Cochran, who joined 25 other members of the caucus in supporting the liberal judge to the U.S. Court of Appeals.
Obviously one could make the argument that the Supreme Court is more important than her current position, so I hope Cochran thinks long and hard before making his decision on whether to support or oppose cloture on Ms. Sotomayor.
More on Sotomayor in the coming days and weeks.
