If Charles Pickering Had Said…
That because he is a white man he could come to be a better decision than a Latina woman, do you think he would have received a free pass? Well, we know how that would have gone over.
In fact, we know how the Democrats handled Pickering, a man well deserving and well qualified to be sitting on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals today. The Democrats used old reliable- the race card.
The referenced one case from about 15 years ago involving cross burning, which the Democrats used from start to finish in destroying a good man’s name. Of course, there argument missed the facts of the case- but hey, what are facts when you can brand someone a racist.
And Pickering fit into the easiest of categories for Democrats to smear- conservative, male, white, and Southern (and not just Southern, a Mississippian). If Pickering or any other conservative jurist said something similar to what Sonia Sotomayor said regarding their race or ethnicity, they would have never even been considered.
In all likelihood, Sotomayor will get a pass (if for no other reason then because of the number of Democrat seats in the Senate), but I’d say this is part of a disturbing trend of reverse racism.
We have seen the Noxubee County Democrat Party discriminate against white voters, member of the Mississippi Democrat Party object to an Executive Director because he is white; and now we have a Democrat president and Senate fully in support of someone who is suppose to fairly interpret the law but has said that she can come to a better conclusion than a white man because she is a Latina woman.
Hopefully, Senators Cochran and Wicker will soon speak out against Sotomayor.
