House District 82 Live Results

June 9, 2009

I am getting these updates via Meridian Star on Twitter. WTOK in Meridian is also tracking the results.

If no candidate received a majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters will head to a runoff. Bill Marcy is a Republican, while the other four candidates are Democrats in this “Cajun-primary.”

Live results:

8:45 p.m.: 100% of the precincts are in and Wilbert Jones is the final vote leader with 41.64% and Marcy came in second at 33.03%. The two are headed to a runoff. If all goes as expected in the runoff, you wouldn’t expect Marcy to increase today’s vote total unless he can make serious inroads into African-American, Democrat voters.

8:30 p.m.: We are now up to 83% of the precincts and Marcy has taken the lead with 42.70% of the vote. W. Jones is in second at 36.9%. No other candidate is at 10%. It looks like Marcy, the Republican, and Jones, the Democrat, are heading to a runoff.

8:10 p.m.: 67% of the precincts are now in with W. Jones at 43.05%, Bill Marcy 31.08%, Robert Barfield 12.58%, John Harris 11.12%, and R. Jones 2.06%.

8:05 p.m.: With 50% of the precincts in, W. Jones leads at 43.59%, followed by Marcy at 25.27%, Barfield at 14.47%, Harris at 13.55%, and R. Jones 3.11%.

8:00 p.m.: After 1 of 12 boxes, Bill Marcy leads with 31.03%; followed by Wilbert Jones at 27.03%, John Harris at 24.14%, Robert Barfield at 13.79%, and Roscoe Jones at 3.45%.
