Interesting Tidbits of Information Re: Taxpayer Money
There has been a lot of talk about the cost of the special session, and I believe those concerns are real and not just populism run wild. According to Paul Gallo, the Senate comptroller confirmed that Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant and Senators Billy Hudson (R-Purvis), Chris McDaniel (R-Ellisville), and Giles Ward (R-Louisville) all refused pay for the latest special session. While I am not criticizing other legislators for not refusing their pay, those four should be recognized.
Also worth pointing out that while the Senate and governors office took pay cuts, staffers in the House enjoyed pay raises (the Clarion-Ledger reported on this a week ago).
But hey, if you worked for the likes of Billy McCoy or George Flaggs everyday- you deserve a raise…
Senator McDaniel is an honorable man. I’ve had the pleasure to meet him and I can only hope he takes his game to Washington and helps straighten up our countries problems.
Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant is going to be a great governor soon and I’m happy to see he did this as well. Awesome job.
While I don’t know Billy Hudson or Giles Ward I’m very please to see them do the right thing as well. Funny that it was only Republicans who did the right thing.
While you may not call out the others for not refusing their pay, I will. As a tax payer I’m insulted they didn’t and feel robbed. The House is a joke too. I represents Billy McCoy, not the people. McCoy is a fool and so are those that vote for him. He’s done more to hurt our State than anyone.
