Friday Ramblings with Robert

July 31, 2009

After a brief hiatus I am back and so to is Friday Ramblings.  In case you’re interested my hiatus was brought about by a little thing called getting married followed by a trip to Mexico, and no I did not contract Swine Flu while I was down there.  Enough about me, lets share an opinion or two on this weeks news.

Mike Chaney is no Alan Nunnelee

Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney(R) wasted no time announcing his re-election bid two years out.  Everybody else at Neshoba has played it close to the vest with their future intentions, but not Chaney who must figure there is no better time than the present to let people know he is running for office again.  The way I see it Chaney is the Insurance Commisioner and frankly we don’t hear about him in the news every day so this was a big stage for him and a perfect time to announce while the spotlight is on at Neshoba.  Kudos to him for seizing the moment and not leaving us with another worst kept secret of who’s running for a particular office.

Speaking of Nunnelee

I’m gone for two weeks and Alan Nunnelee still hasn’t made a formal announcement of the worst kept secret in Republican politics in this state.  I guess he is getting closer though by formally filing the necessary paperwork to announce his run for Congress.  I may seem hard on Mr. Nunnelee, but it’s only because I care and know that he is the best chance for Republicans to take back the seat in Congress.  Brett and I have personally speculated on Nunnelee being the best guy to run since November and I am just glad to see it is finally getting closer to being official.  Mr. Nunnelee can take all the time he wants as far as I’m concerned because most thinking people already realize the obvious.

Speaking of Thinking People

What would a Friday Ramblings be without mention of Rep. Childers and how he’s thinking on the goings on in Washington.  Obviously the big news out of DC centers on the Healthcare “Reform” that Democrats are trying to shove down people’s throats.  Just don’t ask Mr. Childers how he feels on the issue because he apparently has no opinion or at least not one he wants to share with the good folks of North Mississippi.  This is just another in a long line of Childers being indecisive on where he stands on an issue.  So today we will honor him as being the Thinking Man since he always seems to be pondering where he should stand on an issue.
