Childers Tele-Townhall Roundup
Y’all Politics has a recording of the entire “tele-townhall” hosted by Rep. Travis Childers last night. I recommend checking it out. It runs about 90 minutes.
The Daily Journal also has a write up and for those of you who don’t want to listen to the entire call, it covers some of the main points made by Childers.
I listened to it last night and just wanted to say there wasn’t anything shocking or groundbreaking said by Childers. Just from listening to Childers he came off as a very moderate guy, very personable and did a good job with the questions. There were no heated exchanges- of course you wouldn’t think there would be via telephone.
The one thing that continues to strike me between Childers and fellow Blue Dog Gene Taylor is how adamant Taylor appears in his opposition. Taylor has previously said you can put a gun to his head and he would not vote for HR 3200. Childers also said he could not vote for it, but usually adds the phrase “in its current form” to that sentence.
I am glad Childers is clear in his opposition to the current healthcare bills.
As a life long Democrat I am very angry…the voters spoke when we elected a Democratic President, Congress and YOU TO REPRESENT US! We need health reform and we need it now….please back the administration on Health reform and quit playing games witrh the Republicans, their is nothing that will appease them and you are playing into their hands. We need a PUBLIC OPTION and Health reform passed.
Obama would not get elected today, because he has shown his true colors. He’s a socialist. Why don’t you move to Canada?
Travis Childers is no conservative and should be run out of town on a rail. The reason he had his telephone conference is because he was afraid to face north Mississippians face to face. He voted for Cap and Trade and he is for the fairness doctrine, according to his office staff. Don’t trust him. RME
Robert, I appreciate your comments and feel the same way about Childers that you do but I want to be fair and point out that Childers did in fact vote against cap and trade- http://majorityinms.com/2009/06/26/rep-travis-childers-d-fence/
However, his opposition to it was not too loud and I believe he was pretty undecided until the final vote. He certainly didn’t show leadership but made the right vote in the end.
