House District 117 Early Candidates

State Rep. Michael Janus resigned from the House today after 13 years to take a position as city manager in D’Ilberville. This open Coast seat means Haley Barbour will now have to call a special election to serve the remainder of Janus’ term.
The Sun Herald has confirmed three candidates who are seriously considering a run, with more expected in the coming days and weeks.
The early list includes former state Sen. Bob Usey, who lost his re-election bid to Sen. Billy Hewes in 1992, Patrick Collins, who ran against Janus in 2003 and 2007, and Scott DeLano, a real estate developer and political newcomer.
