Weekend Election Notebook

February 6, 2010

MS-01: As we noted earlier this week, former Eupora mayor Henry Ross kicked off his Congressional campaign this week with several courthouse speeches. The video is from Ross’ announcement speech in Corinth.

MS-04: As we recently mentioned, Fourth District GOP candidate Joe Tegerdine will be making a lot of stops this month in an effort to get his name out there as he takes on Rep. Gene Taylor, who has been in DC for about 20 years. Tegerdine says he can win if he can build a grassroots organization similar to what Jason Chaffetz did in Utah. Tegerdine has also pledged to not accept any earmarks, a winning issue with economic conservatives.

MS-04: If you support Joe Tegerdine and want to win a shotgun, the Tegerdine campaign has a challenge for you. The person who raises the most funds over $1,000 by March 5 will win a new Browning shotgun. Check out the link for more information on the fundraiser.

MS-04: Don’t be fooled by impersonators. Rep. Gene Taylor is not as devoted to social media as some Congressmen, but his opponents would like you to think he is on Twitter. Using the handle @RepGeneTaylor, his bio includes: Congressman of Mississippi 4th district is facing his greatest challenger in the 2010 election. You can also find tweets of thoughts that are less than gracious to Taylor.

MS-01/ MS-04: Are you on Facebook? So are several 2010 challengers including Henry Ross, Alan Nunnelee, and Joe Tegerdine. Angela McGlowan also has a Facebook page, but it is not campaign specific.

President: Happy Birthday Mr. President! Ronald Reagan would be 99 today. In his honor, DC is snowed in and government is shut down. I’m a sure the president would have enjoyed that.

Has anyone heard Tegerdine outline his plans if he is elected . I feel it is way past time for change in our Dist. I just do not want the kind of change some others have brought. i.e. Obama etc.. If anyone has a link I would love to get it.
    Thanks!

The Mississippi Gulf Coast 912 Project will sponsor a town-hall on February 15th 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Come see Joe Tegerdine answer questions in town-hall fashion. You will be impressed.

Here are the Issues on his website: http://www.joetegerdine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114&Itemid=108

I would say he would be a Mike Pence or Jim Demint type conservative if he were to win just based on what Ive read about him and heard him say.

Let’s look carefully into the candidates. I pray to see someone elected by the People for the people who represent the People in Mississippi.

For example Gene Votes for Pelosi. He is OUT!

Who will the Republicans put into their corner? Who will the liberals and Democrats dictate to the Republicans to put in their corner? The bribes and pressure is getting to someone to jump into the election at the last minute to upset, confuse, and distract from the real conservative movement.

Let’s just be aware that career politicians have proven to loose their direction when power and money corrupt their path. Who is running for election and why? We must be wise voters or face the consequences.

I agree. If we are ever going to get out of the mess we are in we have to start today. For
years most of us have been appathetic and complacent. Look where that got us. It is time to
get involved with the leadership in our country. Beware of career politicians – we will just get more of what we already have in DC, and in state and local government.

Now we have to be on the lookout for something called Establishment Republicans. They are the ones who will jump into the race at the last minute in hopes to throw the real constitutional conservatives a curve ball. This is to distract true conservatives into supporting a pseudo (false) conservative from the establishment.

The Establishment Republican is not serious about running and will enter only with the insistence of big political donors promise of money or to withhold money, including from the Democratic party or the progressive movement.

The Establishment needs their Gene Taylor to Keep up his No work policy and comply with Nancy Pelosi. To fulfill this scheme the Establishment appoints a Republican to run against Tegerdine at the last minute in hopes to upset the conservative voters enough for Taylor to win the Pelosi position back.

Let’s NOT welcome the “Establishment Republican” who is being pressured to announce his running soon. Let’s send him back packing his schemes of progressive ideology of playing along with Peolosi’s plans to buy elections.

Well there you go. The Establishment Republican has jumped into race at the urging of the Establishment Republican Party supported by Progressives and Democrats as well as some misguided Republicans. We must stay strong, united together to the Conservative movement that is sweeping across America knowing it is our way out the America’s economic woes.

As I was attending an event I heard from a very close source to this Establishment Republican, about how the Establishment Republican refused for months to run for Congress in the fourth district. He has finally succumbed to the pressure of promise of Campaign funds for future elections and threats of withheld funds if he refused. What a corrupt racket politics are.

I want the people to decide who to elect into office to work and represent them not some liberal corrupt bureaucrats in DC, Chicago, and New Orleans.

The other side of me feels so sad for this really nice guy and his lovely family who looks foolish and lost much respect for jumping into the race at the last possible minute, with no preparation, after refusing for 10 months. Running should be a response to a calling not a threat/bribe. It just seems so sad to me.

Tegerdine threw his hat into the race for all the “right” reasons, early, responsibly, to build support and momentum to beat out the Pelosi hand puppet, Taylor.

My eyes will stay wide open over this election.
And I will not keep your secrets. I will not stay quiet when it means my future, the future of Mississippi businesses, and future generations of America. These are critical times and there will be no more good-ol-boy politics kept hush hush.
Share it openly and often. No more back dark corner handshakes for me!
