Does Obama Really Have a 52 Percent Approval Rating In Mississippi?
According to Gallup he does. In a tracking poll that began on January 21 of last year and ran through December 31, Barack Obama had an approval rating of 52 percent in the Magnolia State with 40 percent disapproving.
In the world of instant polling, this is a bit of an anomaly as it dates opinions over the first 11 months of Obama’s administration. Therefore, it is impossible to tell who approved of the president and when. As we know, Obama started 2009 with sky-high approval ratings and then saw a historical collapse over the last part of the year that put the president around 50 percent approval nationally.
I don’t know of any other polls tracking Obama’s approval rating in Mississippi, but look at what Gallup said about neighboring Arkansas. In the year-long tracker, the president had a 49/40 approval rating. However, in a much more recent poll from Public Policy Polling, the president had a backwards 38/58 approval rating in the Natural State.
Just something to keep in mind.

Gene Taylor made a comment concerning Obama’s approval rate in Mississippi. I think these comments were made 2010 at the Gene Taylor’s Ocean Springs Town Hall meeting.
