MS-01: McGlowan Is Officially In
We can now say there are three official candidates in the GOP primary for the First District. In one of the worst kept secrets in recent memory, Fox News analyst and conservative author Angela McGlowan made her official intentions known in Oxford earlier today.
She will be visiting courthouses through the week as part of her campaign kickoff tour.
More information on the candidates is available at the 2010 list.
Update: NRCC spokesman Andy Sere said this about Angela McGlowan’s entrance into the GOP primary: “We welcome her to the race. Obviously, Sen. Nunnelee has been in there for a while and has turned out to be one of the best candidates for us this cycle. They’ll have a primary, and Northern Mississippi voters will decide.”
Update 2: The McGlowan campaign sent out this press release announcing her entrance into the race which is below:
Angela McGlowan Kicks Off Campaign for Congress
“Massachusetts was just the beginning, let the rebellion in the House of Representatives start right here in Mississippi”
Oxford, MS – Oxford native, author, and former Fox News Political Analyst, Angela McGlowan kicked off her campaign today in Mississippi’s first congressional district to take back the peoples’ seat in Congress and safeguard it against entrenched, incumbent career politicians. During her 5-city, 5-day tour of the district, McGlowan will visit with Mississippians in Oxford, Corinth, Tupelo, Columbus and Hernando.
McGlowan is the conservative pro-life, pro-gun, pro-small business Mississippi Republican who, at TEA Parties in Tupelo, Hernando and Memphis, has taken a high profile stand for working families against the liberal policies of President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, that promote big government spending, record national debt and excessive levels of taxation.
“In Massachusetts, the people rose up and reclaimed their seat in the U.S. Senate in an election that’s been compared to “the shot heard around the world,” stated McGlowan. “But that was just the beginning, let the rebellion in the House of Representatives start right here in Mississippi.
“From Oxford to Columbus, Hernando to Tupelo, we will take back the peoples’ seat in Congress and safeguard it against entrenched, incumbent career politicians. Together, we will declare to Barack Obama, and liberal incumbent politicians throughout Washington, D.C.: no more taxpayer funded bailouts of irresponsible banks, insurance companies and automakers that have already added over a trillion dollars to our national debt, no more taxpayer funded ‘stimulus’ bills, chalk-full of wasteful government spending, no more job killing, multi-trillion dollar tax increases.
“Instead, I will fight to balance the budget, significantly cut our national debt, lower taxes on working families, enact policies that reward small businessmen and women for daring to be the economic engine, job creator and backbone of our local communities, and make sure children get the education they deserve because education and economic development go hand in hand.
“And, let me be clear, no one will defend and promote our conservative Mississippi values more vigorously. You can depend on me to protect the precious right to life of the unborn, preserve the sanctity of traditional marriage, defined as the union between one man and one women, defend law-abiding gun owners from of each and every attempt by liberals in government to infringe on their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and help make your families secure in the face of radical Islamic terrorists sworn to the destruction of our Judeo Christian values by any means necessary.”

I have seen her on Fox News and she seemed well spoken and informed on the issues. I also know that people can seem to be one thing when the camera is rolling and another when it is off.
It would seem that NRCC spokesman Andy Sere seems to think there are only two candidates and obvious preference to Nunnelee. Very sad for the people of District 1.
The McGlowan and Nunnelee race will be interesting. Nunnelee would have been a shoe in before McGlowan entered the race. Nunnelee has vowed to keep it clean wonder if McGlowan will as well? Will these two candidates be debating anywhere or is that to soon?
That last part of her speech reminds me of the campaign slogan in Napoleon Dynamite where Pedro says “vote for me and all of your dreams will come true”. The problem is this is not a teen comedy.
Would someone please see if Pedro is from Dist. 1? If not he can move in with me. I feel that if Pedro was running at least we would have someone worth voting for. Have y’all read the comment by Jason below the story about Ross entering the race? I was kind of leaning his way until I read what he had to said. Gees#*@%.
Angela McGlowan is the gun control candidate for Congress in MS-1. Listen to her feeble attempt to justify infringement of our Second Amendment rights at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNg6jh9oyqg
T and F thank you, I read parts of that transcript but the audio is so much better. What law is she going to make to get criminals to list their guns? The government needs to know? Scarey!!!! What else does the government need to know? Where I go to church, if I spank my children, what type of milk we drink? Where does it stop? She sounded like me arguing with my parents when I was sixteen. Ms. McGlowan is very angery and the way she spoke to those callers is an outrage. I said it before I will vote for the awful Childers before her. She is not assertive or knowledgeable in the least. Questionable!!!!!
