McGlowan: Trent Lott Picked Nunnelee

April 26, 2010

Angela McGlowan was quoted in the Huffington Post today in a story about the 32 black candidates running under the GOP label in 2010. McGlowan gave a response we have seen before when asked what she was running: “People who’ve lost factory jobs or lost their home, people who approach me after Tea Party events, have asked me to run. They say, ‘Angela, you’ve made it big. Please go back to Washington and help us.’ When people who have despair ask you for help, you don’t turn them down.”

However, she also made an interesting statement I have not heard before. She mentioned that she had a meeting with the NRCC seeking their support when she ran (which we have talked about), but said they were no help to her: The “Mississippi’s good-ole-boys rallied around an establishment candidate.” She said Alan Nunnelee was the GOP’s choice ‘at Trent Lott’s encouragement.’

she is absolutely spot on– she is a candidate at the urging of TEA Party folks–and trent lott endorsed nunnelee as his boy-love or hate her–ya scream for the removal of the same ole same ole good old boy establishment, and here she is–seize the oportunity–
the girl has a mouth–let her go to congress and use it-she speaks daily of her disdain for obama, pelosi,& reid- -anyone who worked with and is personal friends with the likes of Beck & Hanninty, and was the ONLY Ms. GOP Candidate to be invited TWICE by TEA Party express to speak @ Natnl. events, surely must have SOME ducks in the water–
i leave you with this thought,if nunnelee touts the backing of a gun lobby so much, why is it that Ms.McGlowan has called for FIREARM FREEDOM LEGISLATION in Ms. and not the CURRENT Ms. Senator?????

One might think she called for FIRARM FREEDOM LEGISLATION from the MISSISSIPPI STATE ASSEMBLY(legislature) to cover up her Gallo Gaffe.

Now what Tea Party folks urged her to run for anything?
Was it the four people that took the time to cast an E-Vote for her in the recent Tea Party straw pole?
Wow she will really go for with those four votes. I believe Nunnelee and Ross had twelve apiece.
Not a very good showing for McGlowan from the very people that urged her to run.

the straw poll you refer to was taken by Joe dirt ( a fake name ) who used the fake name on her new fake web site ( msfirstdistrict.ning.com ) she refuses to give her real name, even tho she is supposed to be the D1 coordinator for Ms. Patriotic resistance ( resistnet) she had 7 people i believe on her site respond and btw–she is firmly a ross supporter / endorser not mcGlowan-you are wrong again–

So your real name is “Grizz”?
Or do you use a “handle” like I do because of the fact that there are a lot of crazies that surf the internet and you would prefer that they not know who you are personally? Everyone has the right to share there thoughts without the possibility of recourse. An internet handle is a great way to do that.
          Don’t you think “Grizz”?
Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Plus my facts about the straw pole are right and you just hate the fact that your liberal agenda of getting Childers a weak candidate like McGlowan is failing.

. Comment by msfirstdistrict 1 day ago STRAW POLL RESULTS
We estimate that 1936 First District Tea Party members were reached for the Straw Poll. The participation in the Straw Poll was too low however to have any reliable results. This can be verified by going to msfirstdistrict’s profile on the various websites and count how many friend requests msfirstdistrict received.

Yes if you would have posted the entire piece you would have shown that of those 1936 contacted only 28 or so actually voted. A la twelve Nunnelee twelve Ross and four McGlowan.

Yes Mrs. McGlowan you are so powerful (in your own mind) come down here to the helpless people of Mississippi and save us. After all we are from Mississippi and so dumb.
What next is the Tea Party going to recruit Shep Smith to run for the Senate seat? He, like Mrs. McGlowan, has no qualifications other than he can read the news.
As for the firearm freedom legislation that is a weak attempt at covering up the fact that Mrs. McGowan thinks we should register our guns with the Federal Government. Her heart felt words not mine.
As for the good ole’ boy club lets see who would anyone else who has served MS all there life pick?
Person A: someone who lives in Virginia and works in DC as a news reporter. Who in the past has shown no interest in “her home district” whatsoever. Who admited that she is only running in order to write a book.
Or Person B: Someone who has served the people of North MS for 15 years, which does not constitute a lifetime, in an elected office. A person who has, and will, introduce legislation to work for the people of North MS not the other way around. I could go on but I will finish with this fact Mr. Nunnelee, like Mr. Ross, have chosen to live and raise there families right here in North Mississippi and unlike Mrs. McGlowan have a clue about what it means to live in North Mississippi. We are not some bunch of down trodden individuals looking for a savior we are hard working people who need the government to get out of our day to day lives.

You’re so off base, I’m not even sure where to begin….

Why don’t I start by asking how you know that McGlowan has no interest in her home district? Did you know that her family actually lives right outside of Oxford. That she, when not on Fox, spent her time in Oxford?

Or how about that she has given money repeatedly to schools and colleges not just in MS-01, but throughout the state. Furthermore, she has established scholarship funds for needy children that want to go to college in Mississippi. Did you know that? Or how about that she goes to church in Oxford, MS. Did you know that? Probably not.

I’m sure it’s just easier for you to bash somebody with no basis whatsoever, but I have to ask that you please do all of your research before inserting your foot in your mouth.

Again, I would like to remind you that Haley Barbour established and ran one of the largest lobbying firms in the country – BGR. When he came back to run for office, he was welcomed with open arms. Is it because he is a white male that is part of the good ole’ boy system? I would like to think not. I would like to think it was because he was the best candidate for the job that could have used his experience and knowledge from DC to HELP our state – same with Angela McGlowan.

        Kevin Rowland;
you are absolutely 100% correct–she also gives college scholorships–owns property in Ms.,& pays Ms. taxes, something these haters lie about continously
her deceased Dad was one of the greastest givers of education in Ms. history–and she pledged to continue his work-her husband, who is white BTW, is a multi- millionaire and she hardly needed to come run for public office–
he is an INNOVATER in the clean coal industry, and their dream is to bring THOUSANDS of jobs and tax revenue into Ms.–however, because they need Ms. rail systems which are dilapilated, they face blockage by zero’s adm. because of pending cap and trade–which zero said will bankrupt the coal industry– so instead of bashing zero, who is destroying this country, these 2 or 3 come into this little site to bash a woman who only wants to better Mississippi— brilliant-true infiltrator liberals show their true colors

I have mentioned this very same thing several times. Alan Nunnelee is more of the same good ole’ boy career politician sponsored by Trent Lott and Phil Bryant. Any Tea Party person knows that we do not need another one of those representing Mississippi in Washington. McGlowan is dead on with her remarks about that. I am going to vote for Ross.

You have your opinion about Nunnelee, and Trent Lott from what it seems, and I have mine but I think we can agree that McGlowan is only seeking, if elected, the prestige and power associated with the position and, if not elected, she is seeking information for a book. Either way she is not seeking the best interest of the people of N. Mississippi. The race is between Ross and Nunnelee. Do you agree with that TPLII?

This should come as no surprise. McGlowan is a powerful, black female running against the Mississippi Establishment. She has upset the status quo and, therefore, must be stopped by the Trent Lotts, Haley Barbours, Phil Bryants, etc. It is no secret that the NRCC and MS state officials have chosen Alan as their pick for the seat. However, I think it is important to note a couple of things.

First, McGlowan can use her influence from Fox News and working on the Hill to HELP Mississippi. Some have seen her working in DC as a bad thing. Why? She has never been a part of the establishment. She always goes against the grain and calls people out on their lies – Republican or Democrat. Is this not the change that the people of MS-01 and just in the country in general have longed for?

Also, Alan claims to have a “proven record.” The only thing he has proven is that he is inconsistent. For those of you that do not know, he signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge to vote against and oppose all legislation that would raise taxes. When reviewing his record, people can see that he has voted to RAISE taxes several times. Dating as far back as 1997 when he co-sponsored a bill to RAISE our income taxes by 35% – to as recently as January 2009 when he voted to raise taxes on sick folks that need hospital beds – HOW ABSURD!!!!!!!!!

Last, let me remind all of you that bash McGlowan for leaving MS to work and come back to help make a difference – HALEY BARBOUR DID THE SAME THING!! To say that it isn’t possible to leave and work and then come back home with the knowledge that you have gained to HELP the people that you grew-up with, went to school with, etc. is absolutely INSANE.

    • Mississippi Elitist permalink
      April 27, 2010 2:32 pm

Now you said that Mr. Barbour is part of the good Ole’ Boy establishment and then you
Said that he has come home and helped the people of Mississippi right? So which is it? Is he part of the big ole scary “good ole boys club”? Or is he a friend to Mississippi? You can’t have it both ways. Then again all you Liberals speak in double talk anyway.
That is very funny that you say that McGlowan is present in Mississippi so much because someone reported on here yesterday that McGowan’s car tags are from Virginia. Now how can this be for a lady who stays in Mississippi all the time? Is she a law breaker? Maybe she does not want to pay for those high priced Mississippi tags? Either way if you live in Mississippi you darn well ought to have Mississippi car tags. I wonder if her driver’s license is from Virginia as well?
Next point is that I don’t think Fox news is in the lobby business so that help she is going to get through them is out. Remember fair and balanced?
FYI the change that I long for is the feds getting out of my business and not “HELPING” me anymore.
Furthermore if you like the fact that she calls people out on there lies then you should love the fact that we here at this site call her out all the time about hers.
Also how can you say that McClown is better for having been in DC because she was a lobbyist? You do know that lobbyist control the “establishment” and McClown IS therefore part of “THE establishment”.
Since we are on the subject of Mr. Barbour I will say that comparing a man with an IQ that is off the charts with any of these three candidates is a bad idea because none of these candidates are the next Haley Barbour.
Please let me know if you think Barbour is good or bad because I don’t speak liberal doubletalk.

As for your argument about the tags you are trying to tell me that a “millionaire” woman drives from Virginia to Mississippi instead of flying? Really that is the best you can come up with?
Why would a “millionaire” drive from VA. to MS. “all the time”?
Why not fly and rent the car here? The answer is not to save money because remember she is a “millionaire”.

McGlowan only wants prestige and power from a congressional job? how silly that comment is–she left a job making close to a million dollars a year,on natnl. TV almost daily- and as far as prestige, her work atmosphere and co-workers are prestige enough for anyone– your vitriolic hatred only shows your arrogance and racism-as far as writing a book–1,its her priveledge just as anyones–and 2,you do not understand sarcasim in her comments as she laughed while saying it–just as those who attack sarah palin, you attack her because you are afraid she might actualy make it thru the primary–again,i call you out–elitist–a liberal term and way of life–warning–intruder alert–why not attack her to her face instead of on an internet page?
do as WE have, stand in her face and look her in her eye and question–i gather you are one who would vote for childers if she actualy won the primary–grow up–TPllL made a correct statement–why not go attack childers?

Racism! I am black! You McGlowan folk are so predictably shallow. My dislike of McGlowan has nothing to do with race or gender it has to do with her lack of character. Character is one of Palins many strong points. Palin was attacked many times because she was a woman but I never heard her use that as weapon. Unlike you and your McGlowan cronies who immediately cry racism and gender bias anyone voices dislike for her. I guess yall does that because she spends so much time with her foot in her mouth that someone has to say something in her defense.
As far as the candidates go I am a conservative who happens to support the two candidates who care enough about Mississippi to actually live here those two being Nunnelee and Ross. As far as you opinion goes that you think her atmosphere and co-workers are prestigious? Well then you must not set your prestige and power bar very high. Also you seem to be very confused as to what prestige and power really are because Fox news CORESPONDENTS have NEITHER!
Plus she did not make a million dollars a year at Fox news that is a lie!

        wickpedia;
        dude: History
The term “dude” was first used in print in 1876, in Putnam’s Magazine.[5]

One of the earliest books to use the word was The Home and Farm Manual, written by Jonathan Periam in 1883. In that work, Periam used the term “dude” several times to denote an ill-bred and ignorant, but ostentatious, man from the city.

You see the flaw in your argument is that you are confusing Fox news
CORESPONDENTS with Fox news ANCHORS and HOST. These are very different positions at Fox news. Corespondents are second tier jobs and they are very replaceable.
You are obviously star struck by Mrs. McGlowan because she is probably the most famous person you have ever met. That is acceptable but do not try and impress me with that because she is a second tier candidate to me just as she was a second tier employee at Fox news.

Hasn’t she always made note of it publicly that she had close ties to Lott and the R’s in MS. Sounds like someone is taking her LV bag and started doing a little crawfishing. As your Congressman, I will give you term limits. I will only serve 2 terms, 4 years total. I’m so glad to announce that some of my opponents finally decided to agree with me on term limits, but don’t be fooled one has said 3 terms (6 years), and the others say’s longer. What they don’t tell you, is after 5 years they will be eligible for retirement. They want term limits, but not until they can get the perks. “The golden rule,” for Republicans is, “never talk bad about another Republican.” For 8 years no Republican objected President Bush’s, “open borders policy.” Not one Republican said, “Secure our borders.” For our woe’s I say, “Send them all home.” This is one of the reasons I left the Republican Party after 40 years! Do you want someone to represent you 100% of the time? I will do that. I will take no money from special interest, Corporate America, or Unions. This is my 3rd congressional race and I’m proud to say I have never taken money from any of them. I don’t like their, “paybacks.” If Special interests, Corporate America, or the Unions give you money, you owe them and the only people I want to owe are You! I was a registered Republican for 40 years. Not any more. I’m now a Conservative Independent. Ronald Reagan once said, “I didn’t leave the Democrat party, the Democrat party left me.” I SAY TO YOU!!! I didn’t leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left me.” Just like they have left you! Republican’s and Democrat’s have forgotten who they are supposed to represent. I’m for Securing Our Borders, No Amnesty, and Voter ID’s. I would like to put a freeze on all immigration until we get things fixed here in America. We have far too many people unemployed now. We can’t afford to allow more people to come here. We must get all Americans back to work first. I support the Second Amendment, “The Right to Bear Arms.” I want you to keep your rights, just like I want to keep mine. George Washington said; “Fire Arms are second only to the Constitution in importance. They are the People’s Liberty’s Teeth.” I believe in the right to life. We have a duty as Americans to protect the life of any child, including the unborn. If elected, any bill that comes across my desk will be posted on my web site for your review. Also, we will post the names of any member of Congress standing in the way of progress for us in Mississippi. You need to elect me with the idea of term limits, with this idea we can take our government back and send home Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reed. In short, I am for Term Limits, Securing Our Borders, the Right’s of the Unborn, Voter ID, No Amnesty, the 2nd Amendment, Keeping You Informed, and Putting American’s back to work.
Thank You, May God Bless America & May God Bless You.
