A Quick Recap Of The MS-01 GOP Debate
There isn’t a whole lot out there on last night’s Republican debate that was attended by Angela McGlowan, Alan Nunnelee and Henry Ross. Here is an article from the Daily Journal on the event for a good rundown.
According to this story, McGlowan took a number of swipes at Alan Nunnelee on his years in the state legislature and some of his votes. She is quoted as saying, “”We need a congressman who isn’t a career politician. We need someone proven in D.C. who has made things happen.” McGlowan has been making the career politician attack for some time now, but has also begun touting her experience as a DC lobbyist. Would like to see or hear the exact comments McGlowan made toward Nunnelee. The story makes no statements on Nunnelee’s rebuttal. As we have talked about, Nunnelee has not really been responding to attacks from McGlowan- at least not directly.
Most of the debate, however, the candidates were generally aligned on the subjects and spoke about much of what they have been saying throughout the campaign. This included a range of issues including healthcare, bailouts, fuel prices, trade, immigration and Nancy Pelosi.
I have only seen one YouTube clip from the debate which is this piece being circulated by the McGlowan campaign. Here she talks about the Gallo gun comments and says there is a difference between what she said as a news analyst last August and what she is saying now as a candidate.
Update: Here are a couple video clips courtesy of the Commercial Dispatch (who also have a lot of good detail on the debate in the linked aricle):

McGlowan “talks about the Gallo gun comments and says there is a difference between what she said as a news analyst last August and what she is saying now as a candidate.” Finally she tells the truth! What she said on the Gallo show is her heart felt belief and what she is saying now as a candidate is what she thinks we want to hear. I for one am glad to see that she has come clean about her feeling that we SHOULD list our guns with the feds and now she is just not saying it anymore. That is more politicial double talk than I have heard from any of the other candidates.
I heard that the students at the Miss. School for Math and Science did a wonderful job hosting the event and asked the 3 candidates very pertinent questions, but nothing was mentioned of gun control or the 2nd ammendment.
Upon further review I do not believe that McGlowan clip was from last night’s debate, but rather the debate from a week ago in Desoto county. She never said it was from last night and I just jumped to conlusions. Twitter post about it: http://twitter.com/angelamcglowan/status/12972955663
