McGlowan Hits Nunnelee On Education
Angela McGlowan sent out a press release outlining some of her plan for education reform, saying, “Mississippi education ranks as one of the worst in the nation, and there is no reason why we should accept this as the reality.”
McGlowan laid out two main points in the presser:
1) She called for eliminating the Department of Education as she has done before and said it would be replaced “with a small regulatory board to allocate federal money to the states.” She called the DOE a “bureaucratic wasteland,” while praising fellow First District candidate Henry Ross for supporting this idea.
2) She also took a shot at the state legislature saying, “the Mississippi state legislature in Jackson should not continue to cut the state education budget, as it did during the last fiscal year.” She said we can not ‘afford’ to take money from education.
That second part is obviously the shot at Alan Nunnelee. He has also been criticized by the Democrats for his role in the budget process as Senate Appropriations Chairman where declining revenues forced major cuts.
Interesting that the Childers “plant”, McGlowan, agrees with Ross on so many things. I also noticed that during the debates she would clap for Mr. Ross and just look away when ever Mr. Nunnelee spoke. At one debate I saw her roll her eyes when Mr. Nunnelee was simply asked for his opening statements. She seems to have a lot of contempt for the candidate that could be running against Childers, who she so badly wants to see defeated. Much like some of the Travis Troopers that frequent here. They seem to want either Ross or McGlowan to run agianst TT boy. I wonder why? Plus if they can’t get either of them they at least want a run off so that whomever wins will have their funds depleated to the point that they have a hard time catching up to TT boy.
You can put billions of dollars into the education system it will not help. It starts at home.
First in the womb and then from there. You need to change people. Head Start is a proven flop. The federal government keeps pumping money into it. Everyone wants to put all this money and technology in schools and it still does not pay off. Poor parenting is the problem.

You have just said what many , including me, havve skirted around. That is why we are last in education. Nunnelee and other elected officals can do nothing with the attitude you described above. Only the school of hard knocks will make any head way. But our bleeding heart dems won’t let that happen.

Instead of constantly claiming that you have stuff on McGlowan, Nunnelee, Ross, etc., why don’t you provide us with proof? You constantly state you are in the know – so prove it. Furthermore, you allude that McGlowan asked to stage something and refused to pay for it? Enlighten us. If you cannot, why don’t you stop with the rhetoric and move on? Like… back to Colorado?
Furthermore, you really shouldn’t threaten people – whether it be campaigns, TEA Party organizers, etc. You only make yourself seem stupid. For instance, when you told everybody you knew that the TEA Party event in Corinth was cancelled this weekend, did you really not think that the truth would surface?
Please find something to better to do with your time and get off the government welfare check.

Why are you attacking Grizz about his VA check? He stated long ago that he is a veteran.
Are you saying that vets benefits should be cut as well? Is that Mr. Ross’ stance as well?
That would be something I think voters would like to know about: “Henry Ross wants to cut injured military personnel benefits”.

These “elitist” Ross fans do not know what it is like to just be a common man. I mean Ross’s wife is the daughter of the man who was the ONLY doctor in Eupora for many years. Ross himself is a lawyer. Yeah that is average common man in Dist. 1 RIGHT.
I do find it amusing that some Ross “supporters” attacked Nunnelee for working with his father in the family business while Ross funds his campaign out of his wife’s pocketbook.
I wonder if Ross will have to ask her how to vote in DC if he were to win?

It amazes me how any candidate claiming to be a conservative Republican can criticize Nunnelee for doing exactly what we WANT him to do and that is to CUT SPENDING! I don’t think Mississippi has access to money printing machines, so I would ask Mrs. McGlowan where she would have gotten the millions of dollars that this state would have needed to keep up with the rising demands of Education. Wait…I think I hear the beating drum of the liberals shouting INCREASE TAXES! Thank God Senator Nunnelee did not listen to that mantra.

That is a great point! I wanted to make it myself but I never did. It takes a lot of discipline to sit shoulder to shoulder with someone and be falsely accused of being a hate monger and not retaliate. IMO Mr. Nunnelee showed tons of class in that moment of classlessness.

i have donated cash ( not much ) to only 1 ( one ) candidate–twice–once at a fundraising in downtown Corinth,and once at his fish fry out of town–and i now regret that choice because of the rabid hatefull activities of a FEW of mr ross’ supporters–1 of which i witnessed reporting to his campaign mgr. hunter in tupelo–the same hatefull old man frank W who stalked mcglowans tent looking for the rt moment ( apparently ) to get in close–

I was at the Tupelo Debate with my friend and was not given one of those flyers so I cannot comment on it. These people who have you so riled up and you think they are on here using lots of different names and are hateful – why do you think that? Why are you blaming Henry Ross for it?
