Is Mississippi’s Last Abortion Clinic on the Brink of Closing?

June 4, 2010

Jill Stanek is one of the leading pro-life crusaders in the country, and recently posted some very interesting information on her blog regarding the Jackson Women’s Health Organization- better known as the sole abortion provider in Mississippi.

In an email appeal from leaders at Feminist Majority, one of the leading abortion rights groups in the country, they warn that an “emergency contribution” is needed so the keep the “only remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi open.” Here is the email that was sent to Stanek:

Here is a full size image of the email.

The appeal is hidden behind the need for additional security measures using the murder of late-term abortion provider George Tiller (of Kansas) as an excuse. I briefly noted on the blog at that time that the clinic is Jackson was calling on U.S. marshals to provide extra security for their operation.

I know there are protestors there on a regular basis. That is to be expected in what many will call the most pro-life state in the nation; one that will overwhelmingly pass the Personhood Amendment in 2011. A state where you can not think about winning an election running on anything but a pro-life platform.

But back to the clinic; as Stanek noted there is more than meets the eye. There haven’t been any reports of need for enhanced security measures or anything outside the usual. I would say the most likely cause of the funding problem is the continuing decrease in their business. We all know which direction abortion rates are going- especially in Mississippi.

At the end of the day, you have to imagine the major abortion rights group would prop up this clinic rather than let Mississippi become an abortion clinic free state.

“haven’t been any reports of need for enhanced security measures or anything outside the usual”

How in heck would you know? You think the folks at the clinic go “Oh, something happened, let’s run outside and tell the wild-eyed inbred rednecks talking to themselves and carrying Photoshopped signs on the sidewalk about it right away”?

Oh, why do I bother: there’s no use trying to clue in people who think that Jill Freaking Stanek constitutes *breaking news*. There’s a woman who needs some heavy medication for you. Maybe some electroshock therapy. Maybe just a heavy-handed slap across her face.

      Brett,

She is not worth the ink used to comment on that piece of trash she wrote.

Even if it does shut down one will rise from the ashes. No worries.

Justin: in our 20 years in the pro-life movement, six of the seven abortion mills that were in Mississippi have closed and none of them have “risen from the ashes”.

Over a similar period about 2/3rds of the abortion mills in North America have closed and not reopened (over 1400 have closed and not reopened — only 700 remain out of what once was a total of about 2200).

Les, do you know anything about this story or can you tell us anything about the status of the clinic?

    Brett,

Will send you a private email.

Ya’, we’re such a “wild-eyed” bunch at the Denver abortion mill that the police don’t even show up most of the time. We’re there to save babies, not kill anyone, unlike the employees, deathscorts, security guards, and abortionists that work at the mill.

Liberals. What would the world be if there wasn’t something totally irrational to laugh about? If you want to know what a liberal is up to all you have to do is listen to what they’re accusing you of doing.

Conservatives. What would the world be like if people were allowed to make their personal decisions. Conservatives always trying to control people and strip their rights away. It’s not your child and does not concern you, so keep your socialized southern patriarchal self out of their business. Women have dealt with enough man abuse throughout history and deserve every civil right that’s coming to them.

John, the world would be like it is now. Rape, murder, theft, child molestation, over-taxation, rising unemployment, record high divorce rate, domestic violence, etc.

Check how many statutory rape cases have been reported and investigated at your local Planned Parenthood… ever. The number is zero. So what about those little girls’ rights? Who speaks for them?

And how about the women who are pressured into going to Planned Parenthood by husbands, boyfriends, parents, grandparents, and friends? The women didn’t want to kill their preborn child but the other people in their lives didn’t want the kid. The women feel stuck and they kill their child against their will. What about their rights?

And what about the rights of the preborn child? Who speaks for them?

You really should think these issues through better before showing your ignorance in a public forum.
