Could Palin Have Saved McGlowan?
On election night for the Republican primary in the First District back in June, former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a 25th hour endorsement of Angela McGlowan via Twitter. It was two Tweets actually- between 5:15 and 5:30 Eastern (here and here). So it basically came with less than three hours before polls closed on a medium most in MS-01 don’t pay attention to. In other words, it was all but worthless.
Contrast that with two other Southern females running for office that Palin has recently endorsed- Nikki Haley in South Carolina and Karen Handel in Georgia. These endorsements came a few weeks before the election and got the candidates plenty of attention and campaign cash. Imagine if McGlowan had three or four weeks to tout the endorsement and let it get free play in the papers and on television.
And in case you were wondering, Haley and Handel had been trailing before the endorsements came in. I suppose they weren’t in as bad of shape as McGlowan, but it isn’t like she is just endorsing the heavy favorite and then taking credit for their win. Palin actually flew to South Carolina (a key state in the Republican presidential primaries) to endorse Haley, but simply posted a Facebook message in support of Handle and recorded a robocall. Haley has already secured the GOP nomination for governor in South Carolina while Handel led by about 10 points in a crowded GOP field and will face former Rep. Nathan Deal in a runoff in three weeks.
It makes you wonder if a robocall or mailer or anything else with Palin’s stamp of approval on it would have drastically helped McGlowan.
Nunnelee picks up support from MABC. Alan Nunnelee will be endorsed by the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors in Tupelo tomorrow. MABC- as the name would imply- is the Mississippi chapter of the national Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), which is a management association for construction industry. According to the Nunnelee presser, the chapter has 1,100 members that represent 66,000 employees.
Three Senators plan to introduce immigration legislation. WAPT is reporting that three state Senators are planning to introduce immigration legislation modeled after the new Arizona law next session. They include Sens. Chris McDaniel (R-Ellisville), Michael Watson (R-Pascagoula) and Lee Yancey (R-Brandon). The chief proponent on the House side continues to be Rep. Becky Currie (R-Brookhaven).

I offer only my humble opinion on this ,am am no doubt wrong which will be pointed out by the hatefull nunnelee supporters who do not like anyones opinion except theirs.but it seems Sarah’s endorsement came too little too late– .like a last minute plea from Angela for help.
Now if Sarah had actually made an appearance in Tupelo with Angela when the TEA party Express bus came thru and went on stage arm & arm like she did OTHER ladies, this might have been a game changer.Seems funny tho, after all of Angela’s rhetoric of calling out Alan, and saying a multitude of times she would endorse Henry Ross but NOT Mr.Nunnelee, she made a typical FLIP-FLOP and endorsed Alan, methinks only because the GOP TOLD her too, that if she ever wanted to run again for ANY office as a Republican, she had better. If she would have dropped out in the last days and endorsed Henry, and asked her followers to go w/him,we would surely have a different Primary winner now. I wonder where i put that video of Angela calling Alan a liar–hhmmm—–I think too Alan should inform all those Ms.builders in Tupelo of his involvement in taking $$ from Grover Norquist, the Jihadi supremist terrorist’s friend, whose supporters include those under indictment for terror activities in the USA,and ANOTHER in Fed Prison for over 20 Yr.’s for the same–Childers is going to crucify Alan, just as he did @ j-Center July 3rd.
I don’t think an actual appearance by Palin was ever in the cards. Going to SC makes sense politically, same with Iowa or NH. No value in going to MS for her.
agreed
Didn’t McGlowan have some organization issues in that district? Not sure that Palin could have helped. The fact that she came in so far behind sort of told the story of her campaign.
besides organization issues,it was her way or the highway–plus her fatal affliction of foot in mouth desease–too bad–she was a dynamic speaker with a firey passion–
