Franks Predicts Dems Keep House
In a Politico article where several knowledgeable Democrats are predicting that the House is likely to flip to Republican control, state Democratic Chairman Jamie Franks was also quoted and painted a better picture for his party. Franks told Politico that he believes Dems will retain the House, and said one way they can do that is by “rallying the base and turning people out.”
Whether or not that is possible remains to be seen. Polls not only give Republicans an advantage in the generic ballot, they are also showing a great deal more enthusiasm on their side. For Mississippi Democrats, bringing the base out generally means making sure the black vote turns out. We know it came out in record numbers throughout the state- and country- in 2008 with Obama on the top of the ticket. 2010 looks to be a much different story.
