Barbour’s Event For Palazzo Raises $177K

August 26, 2010

Wow. The Steven Palazzo campaign sent out a press release today announcing that the fundraiser headlined by Haley Barbour brought the campaign $177,000. There were an estimated 250 attendees at the event, and political heavy-hitters in addition to Barbour included Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, Treasurer Tate Reeves, and Senate Pro Tempore Billy Hewes.

How much has the Republican Party raised on behalf of Bill Marcy?

You see the establishment supporting Marcy, that’s exactly what they would have done to help Tegerdine had he won.

How wonderful to see the start of a unity in Mississippi through Barbour’s fundraiser for Palazzo. Why would Barbour and others leave one of their own out to fend for themselves? Is Barbour really thinking of Mississippi and America if he did that? If Barbour doesn’t do the same for Marcy it is clear, Barbour has a shady agenda elect a Dem in the 2nd. Sounds like a buy-off. If Barbour decides not to hold a fundraiser for Marcy I would conclude he wants the Dems to hold that seat, or perhaps he is racist, or doesn’t care about the 2nd district, or some other reason. But I would ask myself, why does Hayley Barbour want to harm the 2nd district?

I hope that Marcy’s fundraiser, led by Barbour is in the works and we will hear about it shortly. Marcy seems like a GREAT candidate. Even better than Palazzo. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
America is the best country let’s keep it that way.

This is Bill Marcy’s campaign manager and I would like to thank all who have commented on this story with positive words, we do have several fundraisers in the planning stage and will make announcement of them as soon as the details are finalized, we welcome all to attend and look forward to seeing you. In addition to being welcome to our fundraisers and other events I would like to invite you to join our campaign efforts, I disagree with the gentleman who indicates the 2nd district can not be won by a Republican, it can be won, by a strong movement of volunteers dedicated to take back our country and see a change in leadership here in Mississippi and throughout our nation. Please join our team and help us restore Christian, Conservative, common sense values to Washington.

In a perfect world, Barbour could campaign for every Republican running in the country. And I suppose- Republicans could win every seat in Congress. This ain’t a perfect world and that’s not going to happen. Barbour is much more valuable to the GOP spending his time with Republicans who at least have a shot to win. Barbour’s a national figure and his fundraising ability is wanted and needed across the country for the GOP. As good a man as Marcy is or may be, this is simply not a place a Republican can win. That’s not a knock on anything Marcy is doing, but a reality of the 2nd CD. And promising to bring the Tea Party to the district or to DC on behalf of the district isn’t going to win over voters in this district. That is just a matter of how the district was drawn and who it was designed for.
