Dick Morris Spells Out The Childers Campaign Strategy

September 29, 2010

Y’all Politics posted a link to a Dick Morris article today where he talked about the state of the upcoming elections. Good read overall, but there is one line from Morris that fits the Travis Childers campaign to a tee:

“Where there is a paucity of dirt, they (Democrats) resort to three prefab negatives: that their opponent favors a 23 percent national sales tax, that he wants to privatize Social Security and that he is shipping jobs overseas.”

Campaign followers know that Childers has tried everything listed. It looks like he isn’t the only one, and that ought to be a good sign for Republicans nationally.

SeeTheSpending.org goes live. The Mississippi Center for Public Policy officially launched a new transparency website, See The Spending, today.

Right now you can search state spending by vendor, agency and category. Soon you will be able to search state revenue and contracts, county spending and revenue, city spending and revenue, and school spending.

I recommend this site to everyone. It is a much needed site for the state and will only get better.

The website is SeeTheSpending.org.

Nunnelee releases two new proposals. Over the past two days the Alan Nunnelee camp has released a jobs plan and a plan for restoring honor to government. You can check them both out in their entirety on the campaign blog.

Since we were talking about that earlier AARP debate Childers claimed Nunnelee is ducking, Nunnelee took this shot at Childers on meeting with constituents: “No more hiding behind a telephone in Washington, DC. I’ll meet you face to face, here in North Mississippi.”

Would you vote for an independent? There have been a couple stories here and there about the third-party candidates running in the First District (and you can include all four districts for this post) and the fact that they may siphon votes from Nunnelee as they are generally running to his right.

According to a Rasmussen poll, 33 percent of likely voters say they are more likely to vote for an independent in this election than they have in the past. That’s the good news for those candidates. The bad? The same number- 33 percent- say they are less likely to do so.

But I suppose the better news for those running to Nunnelee’s right, Republicans are more likely (37 percent) to vote for the third-party candidates than Democrats (17 percent). Obviously saying you’re open to doing something and then doing it are two completely different things however.

Taylor and Childers vote against adjourning. By a 210-209 vote the House has decided their work is over at least through the upcoming election. What was seen as a for-or-against extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, 39 Democrats bucked their party in voting against adjourning. This includes Gene Taylor and Travis Childers.

Looks like the Independents have a real shot. Kudos to Rasmussen.

Not so fast!! 33% said that they were more LIKELY to vote for a third party candidate, not that they would!!!

ouch, did I strike a Nunnelee nerve? Funny thing, this comment section is still ‘open’ while my last post on a more recent article was closed because this ‘blog’ doesn’t seem to want to hear the truth.

If you actually read this blog and didn’t just come here to try to stir the pot as you have, you will notice that occasionally I close threads where people are basically saying the same thing over and over again; basically the discussion is dead.

Of course I also have multiple ways of contacting me available on the blog if you had a question about something I was doing.

Lastly, keep in mind who runs this blog and who spends the time and energy to maintain it (ME!) before you go flying off. You can create a blog for free. Anyone can do it. If you don’t like what is being said here, I suggest you look into it.

I recall the Nunnlee poll had 9 % that was undecided. The Childers poll had 14%. Now 33% are MORE LIKELY to vote for the third party candidate. Notice the parallel, the more Childress hammers Nunnlee, the More Likely the people will vote for the third party. The people in North Mississippi know they have to send a message to Congress by defeating the democrat. The big question is WHO will replace the democrat?

Flying off the handle is different from preventing other from seeing and hearing the truth. Why would you close the comment after I posted? The articles I posted on the ‘closed’ article were only meant to show voters what Nunnelee is up to and he is not as squeaky clean as everyone thinks. As a reputable blogger You have a responsibility to inform your readers is my only point. No hard feelings, no harm, no foul, but people need to know Brett.
Thank you for hearing me out.
