Palazzo Reaches Young Gun Status

September 30, 2010

Steven Palazzo has climbed the NRCC’s Young Gun designation to make it in the top-tier of the three section program. On the Radar and Contender are the steps before Young Gun. Palazzo joins Alan Nunnelee in being included on the list.

The NRCC has announced that this will be the final round of candidates.

*** Speaking of Nunnelee, he took heat yesterday from the Travis Childers for apparently declining a proposed AARP debate. The Daily Journal has more on that. The AARP wanted to set up a debate for October 8, but those efforts have been scraped. An AARP spokesman said they were never able to get workable dates the two candidates’ could agree on. A much different story than the one made by Childers yesterday.

When I saw this was an article involving a republican dodging a debate I thought it might be about Palazzo. Then I see it’s about Nunnelee dodging a debate. The story’s really about Palazzo reaching young gun status. Maybe they should be called the Dodgers instead of young guns.

All it takes to be a young gun is the ability to draw funds and there’s nothing in the mix regarding principles or values. This big tent no brain valueless philosophy is more like a cheap carnival where all of the games are rigged. I’m going to go and find the tick tack toe chicken and play. That girl’s going to be the sharpest knife in this drawer.

No one dodged any debate…Can I ask why you continue to prop up Democratic candidates?

Not backing one unprincipled candidate does not automatically mean one is backing the other unprincipled candidate. What we have here is an attempt to control through peer pressure. This is something that only works on the dull of wit. (I’m being kind in my usage of words.)

Sophia: Perhaps you may want to reconsider your comments concerning Nunnelee’s lack of principles. In all practicality, principles are often not on display during a debate. It is more likely to be a contest of persuasion. If you would just look back over Mr. Nunnelee’s record you would see that he has demonstrated time and again to be a person of integrity and solid character. You might want to know that Nunnelee has also thrown down the “guantlet” to have the “great debate” in North Mississippi. It’s Childers who will not even face his constituents in town hall meetings(using tele-town halls}.While we make no claims that Nunnelee is perfect, we believe him to have the right heart and intentions for MS US1.

“While we make no claims that Nunnelee is perfect, we believe him to have the right heart and intentions for MS US1.”

I think the same can be said for Palazzo in the 4th district. I believe he is truly concerned about the direction in which our country is headed, and he is putting a lot of time, energy, and effort into running his campaign. He has some great ideas for making our country something we can continue to be proud of. He really is the best candidate for representing the values of South Mississippi, and he deserves the chance to do so.

Also, from what I understand, he has made several attempts to engage Taylor in debate, but it has not happened yet. So no debate-dodging there, either.

I’m not referring to Nunnelee. This has nothing to do with him at all.

One other thing regarding Childers….he makes Taylor look good. Childers is a scumbag.

If Childers makes Taylor look good, he must be REALLY bad because Gene Taylor is a total two-faced man. He says he is conservative, but his voting record shows another picture entirely.

The same can be said of Palazzo.

Palazzo has a better chance to win than Nunnlee. Palazzo is rising, but must be careful not support some of the lame republican ideas. This is not a race about ideas. This is a race to help balance the power.

Nunnlee is full of ideas. He has been very vocal about his ideas over the last 15 years. There are many in North Mississippi that are too conservative to vote for Nunnlee. The Independent has a better chance to split the vote. (Good luck Alan)

Bill Macry could give Bennie a run for his money. The Republicans should support him with some money. Other wise he has over 2 million to help Childers and Taylor.

Greg Harper is a shoe in. The funnest thing is he’s from Maryland. He is also the most conservative voting member to Mississippi’s delegation. Who would have guesses that?

I can not imagine many people that would consider themselves too conservative to vote for Alan Nunnelee. He has one of the most conservative voting records in Jackson. Sure, you might find two or three votes out of THOUSANDS that are not how you would like but if someone wants a candidate that squares with their views 100% of the time they need to run themselves. While most of the third party/independent candidates are well meaning, in the end they will only get a combined 2 to 3 percent of the vote and potentially cause Travis’s relection as well as Pelosi’s House Speaker re-election. It is my belief that conservatives should work to get conservative candidates nominated and elected within the GOP vs well meaning but hopeless chance of running candidates as third party/independent.

I wish Nunnlee the best of luck. I have been speaking with family and friends in North Mississippi and they know Nunnlee is not a real Conservative. My real good friend Trent Lott is not a Conservative, more like a moderate. I have looked at his record and it is all over the place. I would not coin Nunnlee a real Conservative. I see him as a moderate like Trent Lott. ( Good luck Alan)

I did have to laugh at the interchange between Childers and Nunnelee over the claim Childers made regarding tax hikes. Childers said that Nunnelee supported a 23% tax hike and on groceries nonetheless, because he supports the fair tax. Nunnelee came back and said he’d always supported tax cuts not tax hikes. His response showed me that he didn’t really know what the fair tax is and that all of the other taxes would go away. The only tax would be sales tax thereby levelling the playing field with imported goods and their prices.

His response reminded me of the movie Splash where Tom Hanks is talking to Eugene Levy. Levy explains that he tried to get a different boat so he could go after the mermaid, but that boat was busy with some other expedition, so here he was stuck with the moron twins and their boat. At that moment one of the two boat owners walks by and offers his only defense to that comment. “We’re not twins.” LOL

A common over the counter drug now requires a prescription, but only in Mississippi. This is a direct result of a law that Palazzo loved and voted for. The reason he voted for it is that crystal meth makers use this drug in their sleezy trade. This has raised the cost for those who need this drug because they now have to go to a doctor before they can get it.

The biggest problem I see with all of this is that Palazzo somehow failed to notice that these illegal drug makers are already blowing the law off. Did he think he was going make them suddenly stop making the stuff because there was yet another law? This is exactly the kind of stupidity we need less of in DC. We have a tangled mass of idiot laws in this country because we keep sending dummies to DC that can’t tell the difference between the appearance of a fix and a real fix. We also have a bunch of people that can’t seem to figure out that criminals are just going to be criminals and maybe making everyone but the criminals miserable isn’t the way to go.

I don’t expect to ever find a candidate that I agree with fully. There’s always going to be some area where we won’t agree. I however will not tolerate this kind of thing in any candidate. It is thoughtless and flakey thinking.

Dontreadonme, I don’t know where your “family and friends” are getting their information on Nunnelee. I can assure you that anyone who has tracked his voting record in the state senate can attest he is a fiscal AND social conservative. Lee and Pontotoc County has re-elected him several times because he has continually represented our conservative values. We have a state budget that is based on actual revenue because of him and the other courageous legislators that said NO to spending more than we take in. Our state government did not have to issue IOU’s to their state employees due to a failed budget because of Alan Nunnelee who stood up to the liberal agenda in the House of Represenatives. Mississippi has been named the “Safest state in the nation for unborn children” because of Alan Nunnelee and all of the legislation he has gotten passed to make it so. You do not get much more conservative than that!

    Brenda,

My relatives in North Mississippi go back 180 years. Now, you do the math. I have many relatives in North Mississippi and they know Alan Nunnlee very well. They say he is not a real Conservative. They base their information on the fact they have known him since he was born.
I stated that his voting record was “all over the place.” He is not consistant on many position. Example he voted for a tax hike and voted against a tax hike, he voted for Education and voted against Education. Alan Nunnlee has enough recorded votes to portrey him any way a person wants too. The fact is, that makes you a weak candidate over the long run.
I’m just saying this because I want the democrates out in november. Alan you can listen to your “YES Men” or you can take some constructive criticism. Wish you well.

What are you thinking?
