Friday Morning Election Notebook
A couple notes on the 2011 elections…
** The Daily Journal has a piece this morning on the two runoff candidates in the Northern District Transportation Commissioners race: Republicans Mike Tagert and John Caldwell. The runoff is February 1; we will bring you some more coverage and analysis before then.
** Republican Hudson Holliday kicked off his gubernatorial campaign yesterday in his hometown of Poplarville. This piece in the Picayune Item has more on Holliday, his platform, how he plans to attract voters, etc.
** Here is a Winston County Journal article with a rundown of the qualified candidates in the county so far. As we mentioned yesterday, Sheriff Randy Thomas- who is a Democrat- qualified as and is listed as a Republican. He has no primary opponent at this point, but at least three will battle on the Democratic side.
** Morgan Freeman was recently spotted at the Palm (which I believe is in D.C. since this is from the Washington Post). According to the Post, he was in town to “talk up the candidacy of friend Bill Luckett,” the Democratic candidate for governor.
