Luckett Blasts GOP For Residency Docs

Various questions have arisen about Bill Luckett’s residency status, but he was certified by the Democratic Party and will match up with Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree in the primary.

We have heard various stories on who is behind the questions; with some saying people associated with DuPree, while others- mainly being the Luckett campaign- blaming the GOP. (I’ve also heard some disgruntled family members may be involved but that’s all I’ll say about that).

Burns Strider, who is part of the Luckett campaign, blasted off an email on Wednesday charging that Republicans are floating the documents because they are scared to face Luckett in the general election. And this isn’t a bad move from the campaign. No way Luckett could come out swinging against DuPree or anyone else. This just makes sense for them. The text of the email is below.

Claiming Bill Luckett isn’t a Mississippian is like saying Ronald Reagan wasn’t a conservative. But, that’s exactly what Republicans and their allies are doing. We’ve known for some time that Republicans so fear having to run against Bill that they’ve been active in trying to manipulate the MS Democratic Primary. Why? So they won’t have to face Bill in November.

Republicans and their allies know Bill will win.

Republicans know Bill will be elected the next Governor of Mississippi and that they will lose… in Mississippi! That’s what they fear and know. They’ve done the polling. They’ve seen Bill all across the state. They know Bill has a plan to create Mississippi jobs and bring real opportunities to our families and improve our schools and they don’t. The Republicans have seen how fellow Mississippians embrace Bill and his message for our future.

Yep, the Republicans and their allies know they cannot beat Bill in an honest, American election, so they cheat. They and their allies slime their way into attempts to manipulate and sway a Democratic primary. We’ve known it for some time. Today, we see it on the pages of the Clarion Ledger as Republican operative Andy Taggart publicly attempts to insert his will and his wishes into Democratic party politics… those wishes translated: don’t make Bill Luckett the Democratic nominee because we don’t want to run against him.

We can’t allow Republicans and their allies to manipulate us. We can’t let Republicans and their allies exert their will into Democratic Party politics. We must not allow the voice of all Mississippians to be denied yet again due to back room operatives manipulating the electoral process.

Stand up for our Party… Stand up for our elections… Stand up for Bill Luckett. This November we may just hold the most important election in Mississippi in a generation.
