Bennie Thompson’s Parking Tickets

March 30, 2011

Roll Call recently did a survey of outstanding parking tickets owed by Members of Congress. One of those who was guilty was Rep. Bennie Thompson who just paid back $610 in fines dating back to 2004. Further, Thompson spokesman Lanier Avant collected $250 in parking tickets using the Congressman’s Member parking permit. That has also been repaid.

Also of interest, Members of Congress are exempt from a number of parking violations while on “official business.” This means they are allowed to park in any “available curb space,” but they must obey restrictions for rush hour parking, loading zones, and fire hydrants. They are also required to obey the speed limit and can not run red lights.

HE PAID PARKING TICKETS GOING BACK TO 2004~~~~ WOW.!!!!! THIS JUST TELLS US IF THERE HAD NOT BEEN AN EXPOSE’ OF CONGRESSMEN WHO EVADED PAYING THEIR TICKETS HE MIGHT NEVER HAVE PAID THE FINES. NICE LEADERSHIP SKILLS BENNY! DO YOU HAVE A BUNDLE OF CASH IN YOUR FREEZER ALSO? CONSIDERING ALL THE REASONS WHY CONGRESSMEN ARE EXEMPT IT SEEMS HE HAD TO WORK HARD TO EVEN GET THOSE PARKING VIOLATIONS TO BEGIN WITH BUT TO IGNORE THEM AS IF HE WERE ABOVE THE LAW IS DISGUSTING.

What are you thinking?
