Dave Dennis: There Are Two Words That Describe Phil Bryant

July 25, 2011

If you were waiting for Dave Dennis to go after Phil Bryant, that time has come about eight days before the primary. You can view his latest ad, Two Words, below:

Dennis’ campaign manager, Brian Perry, said this in a press release: “Elections are about choices; choices among candidates, choices among philosophies and choices among the records of the candidates. This ad helps to point out the differences for voters who do not know Phil Bryant’s record. Dave likes Phil personally, but he doesn’t believe we need a career politician as our state’s chief executive. Instead, we need a businessman like Dave Dennis with proven job creation success and private sector experience. Phil Bryant may have defenses on his attempted land deal, justifications on why he broke his pledge and raised taxes, explanations on why he increased spending as Auditor, and excuses on his role in the budget negotiations and if so, he should make them. But these items are all part of his record and fair for discussion in a campaign.”

While not a big fan of Bryant somebody needs to point out that Dennis is a name-dropping, politician even though he just hasn’t run for office before. He is no different insomuch as he has been an insider in the political arena for many, many years and when not before a microphone, will brag about all the insiders whom he considers his good friends. Yes, he has run a successful business but he has been involved in everything from the Advisory Board of the Federal Reserve to other inside the ballpark politics. No virgin here that’s for sure. And the fact he threaten to run so many times before sort of makes this campaign very tired and old. We all had hoped for more, much more from this man.

Wonder why no candidate has mentiond the fact that Phil and Billy pushed for reapportionment at the height of the inflated Real Estate bubble? Resulting in the citizens of Mississippi paying higher property taxes. Now that the Real Estate bubble has burst Mississippi citizens are paying taxes on property that is not worth half the reapportionment appraised value. Phil and Billy has not done anything to adjust these inflated appraisals.

Not for Phil Or Billy. If neither win I will consider Mississippi on it’s way to a brighter future.

I’m pretty sure Bryant lives in the same little house he’s lived in since his State Auditor days, and to me that speaks volumes about his “career” as a politician. It seems pretty clear to me that about the only thing he’s not good at, is lining his pockets with the mysterious monies acquired by the usual “Career Politicians.”

So…for that reason, and a host of others, I’m going to follow Dave’s example and sum up Bryant in a few words… “Career Public Servant.” ….he’s worked hard, kept this race clean, and as his employer… I’ll keep him on my payroll.

Just received notice that the National Log Cabin Republicans have endorsed Phil Bryant. This group is widely known for its liberal and favorable views of gay rights…
