House Primaries To Follow Tuesday

HD 3: Democrats will nominate someone other than Billy McCoy for the first time in more than 30 years. Running for the party’s nomination are Bobby Wren, Tommy Cadle, and Jimmy Wayne Russell. The winner will meet Tracy Arnold (R) in November.

HD 4: This seat is being vacated by Rep. Greg Ward. Democrats will choose from Steve Fisher, James Nunnally, and Jody Steverson. Republicans will choose from James Benefield, Alan Miller, and Terri Stanford.

HD 10: This seat is being vacated by Rep. Warner McBride. Republicans will choose from Sen. Nolan Mettetal and Doug Jones. Democrats will choose from Jordan Bankhead and Greg Hodges.

HD 13: This seat is being vacated by Rep. Jack Gadd. Democrats will choose from a slew of candidates including Bill Gray, Jeff King, Don Randolph, Steve Shaw, and Bobby Watson. The winner will meet Steve Massengill (R) in the general election.

HD 19: Rep. Mark DuVall (D) is being challenged by former Rep. Jamie Franks (D) in the primary. Also running for the Democrats is Brad Underwood. On the GOP side, Randy Boyd and Alan Sheffield are competing for the party’s nomination.

HD 39: Rep. Jeff Smith is hoping to win as a Republican for the first time. He will meet Jack Larmour in the primary. No Democrats have qualified.

HD 45: Republicans will pick a candidate to run against Rep. Bennett Malone. Running on the GOP side are Jay Mathis and Wayne Vaughn.

HD 48: With Rep. Mary Ann Stevens retiring, Democrats will pick a replacement from a field that includes Nathaniel Christian, Thomas Eskridge, and Jason White. No Republicans are running.

HD 73: Rep. Jim Ellington faces a primary challenge from John Canterbury on Tuesday. Democrats will choose their candidate in a primary that includes Brad Oberhousen and Gary Polk.

HD 107: This seat is being vacated by Rep. Deryk Parker. Republicans running are Doug McLeod, Kevin Mitchell, and Sherwin Ray. The Democrats will choose from Royce Lott and Douglas Lee.

HD 121: Republicans will choose between Carolyn Crawford and Jeff Wallace to run against Rep. Diance Peranich.

Democratic primaries with no Republican opponent:

HD 30, HD 31, HD 36, HD 42, HD 48, HD 51, HD 63, HD 82, HD 85, HD 94, HD 98, HD 119

Republican primaries with no Democratic opponent:

HD 17, HD 35, HD 39, HD 58, HD 60, HD 78, HD 101, HD 108, HD 109, HD 118

    HD93: Republicans will choose between Kent Alexander and Timmy Ladner to run against liberal Democrat Rep. Dirk Dedeaux.
