I know that McCarthy is a House Whip and is part of the Republican establishment that dominates the Republican Party. I guess that this is a trip to support Harper and
Palazzo for their votes on extending the debt ceiling. One “good turn” deserves another.

When does the American taxpayer get a “good turn”? Why can’t MIssissippi have fearless congressman like those over in South Carolina? Where is the Tea Party in Mississippi? Or would Barbour allow that?

    Mrs. Robertson,

I must say that I agree with you wholeheartedly. We in Mississippi deserve fearless representatives who’s main concern is effectively serving his/her constituents while upholding the Constitution and Tea Party conservative values without being concerned with their re-election. In 2010 we had the chance in MS D1 to elect such a servant in Henry Ross. Mr. Ross as a successful lawyer being chosen to serve in the George W. Bush administration had a firm knowledge of the Constitution, and most importantly, a respect for it. He also vowed to support term limits and limit himself should he be elected, therefore, removing the need to serve the demands of the establishment elites.

I would ask that you visit Mr. Ross’s Website at http://www.henryrossforcongress.com and learn even more about him. there is said to be a great chance he will seek this office again in the coming months and ask for the chance to bring the exact style of representation to DC that you have requested.

      Ross ’12,

I am inclined to send a contribution to anyone that opposes Greg Harper. Has Henry Ross announced his entering this race for 2012? When he updates his website to 2012…I will send at least 10.00 dollars to begin with and hopefully more.

It is unthinkable to re-elect anyone who currently serves in Congress. Greg Harper, for example, talks a good less-government, lower-taxes game, yet he votes right along with mainstream Republicans to extend and enlarge Social Security, other unnecessary federal programs and departments as well as unwinnable and unnecessary wars overseas.

A USA Today poll last April revealed that 75% of voters thinks Congress does a horrible job, but nearly 80% of voters like what THEIR congressman is doing. Familiarity must learn to breed more contempt.

      Not a fish fan,

I don’t understand your comment. Who is Harper serving? And what is he serving? I think that he is serving MASH…a little concoction of something for everybody. A little something for Republicans…a little something for Democrats…a little something for conservatives and a little something for liberals.

Oh, yeah, Harper is “serving” all right. MASH!!

          Where’s is Charlie?

Sounds like a country club Republican enjoying the good life…and looking for money. Perhaps he needs to be holding a Tea Party?

I was hoping that when Greg Harper was first elected that he might attain a conservative voting record that conservatives, Tea Party, and Independents would be pleased at seeing.
Instead he received a rating of 62% from Heritage ratings…a conservative think tank.

Greg Harper is not that far from 50% in voting half and half for Republicans and Democrats alike. We don’t need Mini-Me Democrats calling themselves Republicans in our fight for our existing constitutional government.

Steven Palazzo from the fourth district of Mississippi who took the district that was only recently held by a Democrat is also showing a dismal voting record from Heritage. He received a 64% rating. What’s with these new so called conservatives. At least that’s what I thought Palazzo was suppose to be?

If these guys have to join the establishment Republicans who cave in to the Democrats then we need to keep an eye on them and bring them home and send another who has the courage and where with all to get the job done.

I’ll donate to any candidate who opposes this wolf in sheep’s clothing. It looks like I’m going to be spending more money against incumbents gone awry than I want to, however, it is important to send men or women to congress that are going to not join with the Democrats in their voting habits.

Where are the partisans? Why have parties if they don’t stand for something other
than being good ol” boys and slapping each other on the back and taxing the public into poverty?

Give me a conservative and not just a name with an “R” beside it. The Republican Party must stand for conservative values or they are nothing other than Democrats with a little “R” beside their name.

    Patrick,

Lots of names floating around down here about a run against Palazzo. One from Pascagoula I’m hearing a lot. A home-boy from Ocean Springs is making waves about a possible run. And of course what about Gene? Haven’t heard from any possible candidates from the Pine Belt area. What are you hearing?

      Coast Rat 4ever,

I haven’t heard any particular name as a GOP primary opponent running against Steve Palazzo as yet. Gene Taylor has a “D” after his name which would make him ineffective as a conservative (if he was a conservative…which he is not) within the Democrat Party.

If your looking for a Democrat to run against a Republican, especially a conservative Tea Party Republican then, indeed, that will be a hard row to plow. The “tipping point” has arrived in Mississippi in regards to the Democrats. The national Democrat Party has gone so far to the left and embracing socialism and “down with the rich” that Mississippians no longer recognize it as the Democrat Party of their fathers.

Tea Party groups are springing up everywhere and when they put their support behind a candidate and then that candidate does not measure up in fighting for constitutional restraints on taxes and other measures then that candidate will find himself facing another candidate that will measure up to constitutional provisions. Case in point…Steve Palazzo.

And this trend away from Democrats is also finding it’s way down the ladder to the state legislature. In both the upper and lower house the Republicans are making gains…with the watchful eye of the Tea Party patriots and their hard working supporters.

Already the Democrats find themselves with only 25 state senators and are only 08 state senate losses anyway from being in a super minority in the state senate. And that number 08 could shrink by at least 03 or more by next month. And the Democrats could loose their majority in the state house next month as well. It may take the Republicans a little bit longer to reach a supermajority in the lower house…but it is on their minds.

I thought Michael Watson’s name was in that mix of possibly challenging Palazzo.

          Paladin,

Yes, indeed, state senator Michael Watson of the 51st senatorial district has been mentioned as a possible challenger against Steve Palazzo. After the November elections are over there will be a filing deadline in March of 2012 for all federal offices in Mississippi.

I was so hoping that Steve Palazzo was going to be a conservative stalwart for Mississippi’s fourth district. It’s sad when a Representative says one thing and then votes another way than what you thought he was going to do. It will be interesting to see how many challengers will come forward and then It will be interesting to see if they do indeed vote more than half conservative and half liberal.

State Representative Gary Chism of the 37th district and Bobby Howell of the 47th district in the state house are two men that have indeed followed a conservative course.
I’ve talked with Mr. Chism before and I hope that he will be around the state legislature for some time to come.

What are your thoughts, Paladin, on how conservative a representative do you think that state senator Michael Watson would be? He doesn’t have to be perfect…nobody is…but it would be nice if he scored in the 80′s or 90′s and not to be voting so much with the socialist national Democrat Party. And that’s what the national Democrats have become.

Mike is a good guy but He is Young and very influenced by established politicians.

If he would show some indication that he is about what is best for our State insatead of allying himself with the Status Quo, he would be the guy.

He seems to be afraid to go against the grain. If he can get out side of the Party “comfort zone” he would do wonders.

Michael is a strong conservative who would make an excellent congressman. He was a rising star in the senate but was a Billy supporter so we will have to wait and see if he is in Tate’s good graces. Our Ocean Springs home-boy that we are hearing considering a run is also a strong conservative. Both would be excellent candidates.

Yes I like Watson as a current Senate member and a possible conservative replacement in the US House.
I watched Michael and Chris Mcdaniels & Yancey work tirelessly on the immigration reform.

I know he was with Billy, but I think Tate is smart enough to know he won and now is the time to make all this come together.

Palazzo & Harper can turn their early voting errors around, but it needs to start NOW.

What are you thinking?
