Flaggs Speaks To Vicksburg Tea Party

October 28, 2011

George Flaggs, a longtime House member from Vicksburg, spoke in front of a group in territory that few Democrats venture to. Earlier this month, he spoke at a Vicksburg Tea Part meeting.

To Flaggs credit, he said, “For those folks who told me I shouldn’t go speak, I say I’m going anywhere in this country and this state and speak on what I believe in.” Regular listeners of the Gallo show know he is probably the most frequent Democrat to appear on the show, and will certainly answer tough questions and give his opinion.

What makes his appearance at the Tea Party event even more interesting is that earlier that day he received a phone call from someone in Washington who discouraged his appearance at the gathering. Flaggs said he didn’t know who placed the call. Bennie Thompson or someone affiliated with him perhaps?

Flaggs faces Republican Sam Smith in the general election as he makes a bid for a seventh term.

Here is coverage of the event from the Vicksburg Post:

I am thinking that the Democrat Party is scared about what will happen November 8. Flaggs hinted that he got “a call from Washington” to go through with this appearance. Right after he spoke,he signed the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge” which might lead someone to believe he cared about how Taxpayer dollars would be used. Then the next week, he revealed to Paul Gallo that he signed a request for funds from the General fund for a PARTISAN meeting in Chicago for the Black Caucus. A firestorm ensued and ultimately the request was withdrawn.

What are you thinking?
