A couple months back, I mentioned the name Bill Luckett as a possible Democrat candidate for governor in 2011, and his name has made it into the headlines again.

Luckett recently formed a PAC, known as Progress Mississippi, which is designed to raise money for a Democrat gubernatorial candidate. He still has yet to say whether he is officially running or not.

The CL story has added some quotes, and Right of Mississippi was the first one to find this, where Luckett praises Obama and calls Republicans and Independents in the Delta racist.

From the Clarion-Ledger:

“You can’t have grown up in the Mississippi Delta with any kind of sensitivity or any kind of feelings and not come out of that aligned with the Democratic Party, unless you’re just a racist or something,” Luckett said.

Luckett said he voted for President Barack Obama and supports most of Obama’s efforts to get the economy back on track.

“He is making some smart decisions, but they’re risky,” Luckett said.

So the possible Democrat candidate for governor in 2011 is running on a pro-Obama, Republicans are racist platform. If Luckett is shooting for 40 percent of the vote in the general election, he is off to a good start.

Is he the same Bill Luckett involved in the car wreck scandal involving Morgan Freeman and DeMaris Meyer? Is he part of the lawsuit?

He is the same guy. Luckett is good friends with Morgan Freeman, he’s also an attorney- not sure if he’s Freeman’s attorney though. I haven’t really been following the story closely but if you see anything and it mentions Freeman and Luckett- its the same Bill Luckett who is probably running for guv.
