What Would It Take For Bennie Thompson To Criticize Obama?

Rep. Gene Taylor fired off a harsh letter to Barack Obama for choosing to stop in New Orleans today to tour Hurricane Katrina recovery and not even visiting the state that took the direct hit from the 2005 hurricane.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, on the other hand, doesn’t have a problem with Obama’s decision. When asked about it, he said Obama “has made significant commitments to Mississippi’s rebuilding and mitigation efforts and I’m sure this will not be his last trip down to the region.” So he basically deflected the real question, praised Obama and refused to say whether Obama should visit Thompson’s home state.

I notice the Mississippi Democrats have been extremely quiet as well…
