‘Talks Have Broken Down’ But Buses Are Still Running
WAPT is reporting that there is a hearing in Madison County today in an effort to halt a school bus driver strike. It was also reported that the buses continued to run today despite an earlier statement by the union president that he could not guarantee anything beyond this past Friday.
Teamsters Local 891, who represents the bus drivers, said that negotiations have completely broken down and complained that First Student was not negotiating in good faith. As we mentioned last week, the dispute revolves around wages.
Updated: Hinds County has said they are considering hiring replacement drivers should the union drivers proceed to strike. That strike might be coming soon as the union rejected First Student’s latest offer over the weekend.
