And by MS-05 I mean Mississippi’s Fifth Congressional District, the district that disappeared almost a decade ago. Miraculously, the $787 billion stimulus has created or “saved” 30 jobs in that extinct district at the cost of more than $984,000 (which is relatively cheap at about $32,000 a job). This information is courtesy of WatchDog.org, who reviewed recovery.org to find the government reported spending $6.4 billion on 440 congressional districts that do not exist.

Also in Mississippi, you’ll be glad to know that the government has spent $3.3 million in the 28th CD, $1.2 million in the 00th CD, $136,000 in 48th CD, $112,000 in the 6th CD, $94,000 in the 19th CD. That spending in those phantom districts combined to create or “save” four jobs.

For the Obama administration:

Where exactly is the 48th congressional district?
