MS-02: Bill Marcy (Who Lives in MS-03) To Seek GOP Nomination

In the D+12 Second District, a Republican whose name you may recall is hoping to unseat incumbent Bennie Thompson. That candidate is Bill Marcy- of Meridian. He is a former candidate of the District Three congressional seat (where he lives) and was a candidate for the HD 82 special election last summer where he lost in a runoff to Wilbert Jones.

Marcy said this: “I did recently qualify for the candidacy in the Republican Party in the 2nd Congressional District, and I live in the city of Meridian, which is the 3rd Congressional District and a lot of people are confused.”

This is not illegal. Law only stipulates that you have to be a resident of the state, not the specific district you are running in. Joel Gill ran from MS-03 in 2008 (and plans to again in 2010) while living in Holmes County (in the Second District).

Marcy plans to temporarily move to the Second District during the race, saying he will move there permanently if elected.

Which he won’t be.

We have made the necessary changes to the 2010 list.

Democrats in Mississippi are waking up. They are jumping ship by the thousands , a direct result of the insanity of the out of control spending by Obama and his healthcare fiasco. Benny Thompson has voted for every thing Obama has done. He is out. Thank you for your faith in Mississippians.
