A Triple Dose of Populism From Childers

March 10, 2010

Yesterday’s press release from Rep. Travis Childers may be a very good indicator of what kind of campaign he is planning on running to keep his seat in the First District. While the Republican challengers are talking healthcare, Nancy Pelosi, and red meat conservative issues, Childers knows he needs to take a different path- which he does.

Childers again criticized what he called “partisan tactics” in the Senate- directing his ire at Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) for blocking a spending bill that included goodies like unemployment benefits, COBRA subsidies, and Medicare reimbursements.

He then offered his strong disapproval for any talk of social security privatization. He told supporters that “Mississippians are being threatened” under this plan and vowed to never support a plan that would “gamble the financial security of millions of hard-working American in our volatile stock market.”

And lastly, he talked about how he is fighting to “hold Wall Street accountable,” as he places the blame for the economy on them.

Expect to here a lot more like this from Childers between now and November. The trick will be for the GOP challenger to set the campaign tone, pin Childers in a corner, and make him speak about things he may be a little uncomfortable with.

“Holding Wall Street” accountable means not bailing them out.

“Partisan tactics” well if that aint the pot calling the kettle black. So I guess this means he voted for Pelosi because he really liked her politics not because he was just going with the powers in his own party.
    He really needs to go.

    Dear Representative Childers,

In response to your email of March 9, 2010:

I understand what happened in the Senate last week could have devastated many Americans across Mississippi and the rest of the country. The fact that none of the mentioned programs, unemployment insurance benefits, access to COBRA health insurance, and even federal flood insurance are to be found in the U. S. Constitution seems to be lost to all to you progressive, socialist, democrats. If you are not one of the afore mentioned type of democrats then you know that it was not a partisan block put up by the Republican Senator. In fact, all that was going on was Senator Bunning was trying to get the democrat party to live up to the “pay/go” legislation passed earlier in the year by democrats that requires all spending legislation be paid for before being passed. I do not expect you or any other member of Congress to be voting for any spending bills that will add to our national debt. That goes for the other party too.

The democrats under Lyndon Johnson stole all the funds from FDR’s socialist program called, Social Security, to fund then existing and new future welfare and other socialist programs like Medicare, Medicade, and so on. If that money had not been transferred to the general fund and wasted, we would not be facing the funding crisis that Social Security has looming in the near future. Yes, I am collecting my Social Security and I don’t feel guilty, it’s the only way I can get the money back that I have been forced to pay into the “voluntary” system for all these years. Again, can you show me where in the Constitution any of these programs are listed or mentioned? .

By the way, I am not a veteran, but I know many who proudly served the armed forces of this country. After listening to them if I were a politician I would not mess with their Tricare programs. They were promised by contract certain services for life and they should receive them as promised. They have been under arms before and will do so again if you guys renege on your promises. Now, I hope that such actions are never necessary, but I would not risk life or limb to stop it.

Mississippians are not being threatened by Social Security privatization. Social Security is a “voluntary” program, which the government forces all to contribute. Not only does it force me to contribute it forces my employer to match my contribution to the program, so much for “voluntary”, huh? Knowing what I know now, I could have done much better investing in my own retirement and would have a much larger monthly check, however I was discouraged against that option by the government. The real threat to Social Security is socialist progressive democrats and RINO Republicans raiding the funds to buy their reelection. Are you one of those socialist democrats? Seems so from my point of view.

As long as the democrat party is dominated by progressive socialist/commie types, I do not want both parties to work together. Nor do I want to return to the failed policies of the past. Those failed policies were mostly the result of a socialist agenda led by democrats and supported by spineless Republicans.

Everyday you fight to hold Wall Street accountable for the irresponsible decision making that led to our recent economic meltdown. Give me a break. I know of only one way to express my disdain for this propaganda. BULL S***! The CRA or the Community Reinvestment Act is run by one of your buddies, Barney Frank, and promoted by ACORN is largely responsible for the meltdown and you know that. And of course, the CRA was signed into law by one the democrat lefts’ heroes, Jimmy Carter. I wouldn’t associate myself with any of these commies if I were you. However, if you think like them then be sure you are honest with the folks and make that your ideology is known to all.
