Confirmed: Childers Will Not Support Healthcare Bill

Much like previous statements, Travis Childers says he supports reform- but this is not it. Childers added that it is important to get the bill right rather than simply passing anything, and he doesn’t think this bill “got it right.” He cited federal funding of abortion and the price tag as prime reasons for his opposition.

Brad White, the state GOP Chairman, sent out a press release criticizing the Congressman for taking so long to make a decision, saying, “Even if Travis Childers gets Nancy Pelosi‚Äôs permission to vote against the bill, it will be too late for him politically, because he will have already proven he is more interested in National Democratic Party politics than the principles of his district.”
