Going After Gene Taylor

As I have mentioned in the past, the NRCC is monitoring MS-04 and are ready to support the Republican candidate in the defeat of Rep. Gene Taylor if possible. Obviously the ‘if possible’ part of that sentence is the key phrase. A couple of Congressional rating services have moved Taylor’s safe seat one notch over to the (slightly less-safe) ‘Likely Democrat’ column, but the most well known political analyst- Rothenberg, Cook, CQ Politics, Sabato- still consider this seat ‘Safe Democrat.’

Today, the NRCC sent out a presser using a new ad from the DCCC against Taylor. The DCCC ad went after a Republican saying he supports “tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas” and “big corporations who would export our future.” There source for those accusations: the Americans for Tax Reformer tax pledge this candidate signed.

That, of course, is the same pledge signed by Taylor giving an easy opening for the NRCC to attack.

“Gene Taylor’s ongoing support for his party’s reckless leadership has paved the way for high unemployment, government-run healthcare, and an exploding deficit that has buried Southeast Mississippi families under a mountain of big government and massive debt. Now, Taylor’s own party is on the attack against his support for policies they say will send jobs overseas. While we might disagree on the details, it looks like Republicans and Democrats have reached a bipartisan consensus on at least one thing: Gene Taylor is a proven job killer,” said NRCC spokesman Greg Blair.

Look at the two things the NRCC highlights in this statement: Nancy Pelosi and jobs. If Taylor is going to be defeated, there has to be a strong revolt against Obama/ Pelosi/ Reid and continued economic unrest.

I am in District 1 but I hope Tegerdine and Palazzo will focus on Taylor not each other. You are right I would link Taylor to Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Economic striff is a great point to drive home. It has more power to me than the liberal agenda angle. If I was Tegerdine or Palazzo I would go as basic as asking “Are you better off right now with Taylor as your representative? How do you feel about the economic security of your family?” I hope they flip that seat.

Red, I hope you folks in MS-01 dump Childers too. Here in MS-04, Joe Tegerdine has been running against Gene T. (and FOR limited government) for nearly a year. That has not changed, but he does have to pay attention to his newly found primary challenger SP as well.

I believe that Joe Tegerdine represents a break from politics, and politicians, as usual and will represent the people of MS well.

Yes Taylor has to go, but you don’t want to replace him with a “look a like”. After +20 years of machine politics that ignores the wishes of the people, we need a “people’s candidate” and that is why I am supporting Joe Tegerdine. Joe Tegerdine is running on a platform of, by, for the people.

Joe Tegerdine sure has got his name out there.
A lady from Georgia who checked us into the Southern Leadership Republican Convention, had heard of and new a couple detail about him. Wonderful to see so many supporters from everywhere. She will now be watching his campaign closer and we will become Face book Friends.

Joe Tegerdine supporters were all over the Southern Republican Leadership Conf. It was great to see such a positive response from everyone who had a chance to meet and talk to Joe.

Also, I think it is important to note that I said supporters and not staff. Joe has no paid staff, but he does have a lot of supporters willing to put in the time to help Joe defeat the incumbent.

It was a wonderful thing to see. Yes there’s a big difference between staff and supporters.
