The GOP primary and possible general election in the First took an interesting twist as the Alan Nunnelee camp came out swinging in response to mailers and phone calls attacking Nunnelee. The attacks appear to come from a PAC called Citizens for Strength and Security, who receives most of their funding from labor unions.

Nunnelee’s response, probably the most pointed thing he has said this whole campaign publicly, were directed soley at Rep. Travis Childers. In response, Childers senior policy adviser Brad Morris said this: “The Nunnelee release makes no sense to me, and there is no basis for them bringing Travis into it. I still have not seen an actual copy of the mail piece, nor am I familiar with the group cited.”

Y’all Politics took the occasion to look back at the support labor unions have handed to Childers, especially in 2008. According to Open Secrets, Childers has received a total of $294,5000 from labor groups in his career (2008 and 2010). To be fair, labor has really backed off their donations in 2010 only dishing out about $27,000 so far. A breakdown of labor’s donations to Childers are below.

Red are you looking to buy a car?
I don’t know if Tarvis will sell you a car but from the looks of the flier at the top of the page he is going to be peddling some “ocean front property in Arizona” for the next few months.
I just wonder if Tarvis will come to any debates or of he will just “teleconference” them.

Brett: Now I know who has been sending the mailers out “hippocrit” and “flip-flops” are the two I’ve received thus far. I suppose this tells you who they fear the most. From what I’ve heard of all three candidates, they are all capable of chewing up the coat holder of queen Pelosi i.e. Mr. Childers. We are fortunate to have three viable candidates in this primary. The Demorats are just getting warmed up with these anti Nunnelee mailers {which they are too afraid to put their name on). Wait until after the primaries. The garbage will really start flying into your mail box. Just remember that after the primary we must stay united to defeat the unionized demorats.
