NRA In 2006: Threat To Gun Rights If Pelosi Becomes Speaker

With the expected announcement that the NRA will be backing Rep. Travis Childers this fall, the conversation will again turn to what role does the first vote a member cast each Congress play into his voting record. While Childers may be as pro-gun as you can be, should that be offset by a vote for a Speaker who is anti-gun as one could be?

Here is a full size image of the graphic.

The above image is the cover of an old press release from the NRA- October 2006 to be exact- where they warn of the threat that a Speaker Pelosi would pose to gun owners. Here is part of their message: “Just how important are the 2006 congressional elections? Just how important is your vote and those of your family and friends? Consider that Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leader of the House of Representatives, is poised to bring her San Francisco values–such as banning handgun ownership by honest citizens–to the powerful office of House speaker.”

Hmmm. NRA forecast doom if Peloski elected speaker. Peloski elected. Peloski has super majority of house. Peloski has friendly President. Veto proof Senate for a while.
    4 years later….no gun control.
    OK guys….let’s don’t use this one…
BTW who will Nunnally vote for for speaker? I’d like to know that before I vote. Childers has broken with Peloski a time or two. Will Nunnally break with GOP speaker? On what issues?

What are you thinking?
