Redistricting In The House and Senate
I have talked some about the Congressional redistricting that will occur over the next year, but by-and-large that will be pretty non controversial. Some counties from the First and Third will move to the Second because of population changes, but I don’t see either party putting up much of a fight assuming racial balances stay about the same.
The same can not be said for the state House and state Senate. By virtue of having 174 seats, it will not go easily. Changes in the legislative districts obviously mirror what we saw at the Congressional level: the Delta lost a huge chunk of population, the Coast lost some as well, the suburbs continued to grow, and the rest of the state was somewhere in the middle.
