Transportation Commission Fires Brown

…That didn’t take long. Mike Tagert, fresh from winning a special election last week, joined with Dick Hall in voting to replace Butch Brown as executive director of MDOT. The vote was 2-1 with Democrat Wayne Brown opposing the motion.

In the past, Hall had been on the short side of most 2-1 votes but with the passing of Democrat Bill Minor and election of Tagert- a Republican- it looks like he now has a partner on the commission.

The Hall/ Brown feuds of the past several years had become infamous with Brown winning, until today. Brown has already announced a June 30 retirement, but obviously won’t be staying on as long as he would have liked. For Hall, he gets the final say on Brown and the last laugh in their battle.

And for it’s worth, I was told today that during the election Tagert had been committed to firing Brown immediately while his opponent John Caldwell was prepared to let him stay on through June.

For those of us in the Southern District this was even better news because this means Wayne Brown is out of luck now with getting his way with his co-hort, Butch. We are waiting for the second shoe to fall on Wayne.. He said he won’t run again…..Hopefully we will be able to elect someone in whom we will have more confidence. Wayne B. says the most outrageous things (like the accidental routing of the proposed Super Highway to within a mile of his 1100 acres in George County would actually devalue his property)and that it is quite by accident that it comes so close to his land, etc. etc. He thinks folks are stupid enough to believe him. Its not my nature to accuse someone without actual hard, factual proof but when it walks like a duck, yada, yada, yada…..Brown has taken on all the appearence of a duck by his own dealings and comments, if you get my drift.

For what it’s worth, your source is wrong. Caldwell came out for firing Brown before it was widely known who Tagert was. The man lost the election, let’s move on, not pile on, please.

Ha Ha. Do you really believe that Dick will get the last laugh???? Obviously you are way out of touch with MS politics. I am staying tuned. Just saying.
