Two Palazzo Staffers Resign
Yesterday, Rep. Steven Palazzo announced that two members of his Congressional staff have resigned. This includes Erskine Wells, chief of staff to Palazzo, and Jonathan Stamford, who served as communications director. The only reasoning given was to pursue other interests.
In a statement, Palazzo had nothing but good things to say about the two men and wished them the best of luck in the future.
Michael Janus, who is the D’Iberville city manager, will be taking a leave of absence from that job to temporarily work as chief of staff to Palazzo.
Statement from Palazzo: “Michael has been a close friend of my family for years. His experience in the state legislature, managing an international business and his position with the City of D’Ibervile makes him well suited for the demands of chief of staff. Through his long career of service to South Mississippi, he understands our issues and shares our values. He will be a tremendous benefit to my office and the constituents of South Mississippi. I welcome him to our team.”
Statement from Janus: “Congressman Palazzo has offered me an incredible opportunity to continue my public service by serving the constituents of the 4th Congressional District. I am honored that he has asked me to do so and look forward to working with him and the talented and professional staff already on board. My background as a legislator and a city administrator has prepared me for this role. I appreciate the Mayor and Board of Alderman for allowing me to take a leave of absence and work for all South Mississippians.”
