Heather McTeer Hudson Files MS-02 Papers

April 11, 2011

Heather McTeer Hudson, the Democratic mayor of Greenville, has filed papers to run in the 2012 Congressional race in the Second District. Rep. Bennie Thompson is currently serving his ninth term. Thompson, also a Democrat, has given no real indication that he is planning on retiring at the end of his current term.

Hudson is seen as an “up and comer” in the Mississippi Democratic Party and was mentioned as a 2011 statewide candidate; something she obviously decided against.

Hudson has said that she will provide more information on her plans in the future, but we know she has filed, is attending a fundraiser in New York tonight and has hired Celinda Lake of Lake Research to handle her campaign.

The Delta Democrat Times has more; but you do need a subscription to access the article.

It seem to me that Bennie Thompson has become rich in congresss, but the state of MS (especially the district that he represents) is still on the bottom of the economic ladder.
