All three Republicans candidates for state treasurer- Lucien Smith, Lee Yancey and Lynn Fitch- have been racking up the miles meeting with voters and key GOP constituencies. Of the stops, all three candidates were in Columbus for ‘Grilling on the River’ and in Starkville for Super Bulldog Weekend this past weekend.

We have a couple notes on the race:

** Lee Yancey picked up an endorsement from American Family Association Founder Rev. Donald Wildmon today.

Wildmon said this in making the endorsement: “With all that is going on today with the economy, debt and taxes, I cannot think of anyone I would trust more than Lee Yancey to be our State Treasurer. Lee is conservative and responsible in his public service. That is exactly what we need in this position.” The full press release is here.

Also of interest, when Yancey spoke in Laurel today he was be joined by state Sen. Chris McDaniel.

** Lynn Fitch has a couple fundraisers lined up on the Coast in May. On May 3, the campaign will have a reception at the Grand Magnolia Ballroom in Pascagoula. On May 19, a reception will be held at the Great Southern Club in Gulfport.

Senator McDaniel has been and will continue to be a vocal supporter of Yancey.
