Thursday Morning Election Notebook
A couple notes on the 2011 elections…
** The Mississippi Tea Party will host a gubernatorial debate on June 25 at Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood. Currently, Phil Bryant, Dave Dennis and Hudson Holiday have agreed to participate.
** Phil Bryant and Dave Dennis have each released their first campaign ads of the election cycle over the past 48 hours.
** As we noted in a separate post yesterday, Lucien Smith- a Republican candidate for treasurer- got a nice endorsement from former GOP Chair Brad White.
** Speaking of endorsements, the Madison County Journal got the ball rolling with a very early endorsement of Dave Dennis in the gubernatorial campaign citing his experience in the private sector and calling him “the closest Mississippi can come to extending Gov. Haley Barbour’s legacy.”
** Treasurer candidate Lynn Fitch will have a reception at Bacchus Food & Drink in Gulfport tonight. You can check out the invite here.
** I am told that SD 44 candidate Tim Ryan will be having a large fundraiser on June 16 and it is hosted by Bonnie and Lawrence Warren, owners of Warren Paving. We will get an invite up when it is available. You may remember me talking about Ryan earlier. He is one of the Republicans who came out very well with the decision to run under the old lines. The district will not be collapsed as it was under the Burton map, is certainly Republican leaning and as far as I know Ryan is the only candidate in the race.
