Fox News Coming To Tupelo Tea Party

October 4, 2011

According to organizers of tonight’s Tea Party event in Tupelo, they have received confirmation that Fox News will join them. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held at Atlanta Bread Company on South Gloster Street. The special guest for the evening is Ali Akbar, a Tea Party activist whose letter to Morgan Freeman after he labeled Tea Party members as racist went viral in the conservative arena.

Locally, I have been told that Bill Marcy and state Sen. Nancy Collins will also be at the event.

Simpson Launches ‘The Real Jim Hood.’ The Steve Simpson campaign launched a new site today known as The Real Jim Hood. In the first item of business, he argues that Hood’s record is not as sufficiently pro-life as the Democrat makes it out to be. From Simpson:

“Two weeks ago, after most Mississippians had wrapped up their work-week, Jim Hood issued a statement professing his support for the Personhood Amendment… The Personhood Amendment that Jim Hood claimed to support almost never made it onto the ballot – because he tried to stop it! In 2010, Jim Hood issued a legal opinion that nearly killed the Personhood Amendment’s chances of making it onto the ballot. Hood arbitrarily issued an opinion that would’ve decreased the amount of time Personhood advocates would’ve had to collect the signatures needed to get the issue on the ballot… While Jim Hood would have you believe that his half-hearted support of the Personhood Amendment in the heat of a tough political campaign proves his pro-life credentials, his legal opposition to the initiative more than a year ago tells you the real story.”

Upcoming fundraiser for Longwitz. Tomorrow night, Will Longwitz, Republican candidate for SD 25, will have a fundraiser at Char Restaurant headlined by Tate Reeves- who as we have noted is spending his free time helping out other Republicans. Honored guests for the evening include the following metro area Republicans: Sen. Walter Michel- who is giving up the seat that Longwitz is likely to win- and Reps. Mark Baker, Bill Denny, Philip Gunn, and Rita Martinson.

The lengthy and impressive list of sponsors, co-hosts, and friends, is in the invite below (full-size here):

Well done Will. I voted for him and I know he will do a good job.
