the console sold out again

PLAYSTATION 5 – After a short pre-order from Carrefour, the Playstation 5 is sold out again in France.

Summary

[Mis à jour le 25 novembre 2020 à 12h21] It only took a few minutes: the PS5 was back in stock on the Carrefour website around 11:30 a.m. in France. The major retailer has launched new pre-orders for gamers looking for Sony’s new console. The queues multiplied very quickly and sometimes reached a waiting time of 1 hour. Now when we go to the Carrefour PS5 page, we are warned that the machine is again out of stock: “Sorry, we are out of stock”. A charge of revenge for the disappointed …

“Everything is sold,” announced the Playstation boss

In the past few days, not all French buyers have had the opportunity to order their copy of the Playstation 5. The stocks of the new Sony console at the various resellers in France are very limited for good reason. Questionable ? An inadequate supply combined with high demand seems to be particularly high for the latest machine from the Japanese manufacturer. While the last few copies went on sale in very limited quantities this Monday, November 23rd, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan confirms that “everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold.” […] I’ve spent much of the last year making sure there was enough demand for the product. And today I spend even more time increasing supply to meet that demand. As a reminder, the consoles ordered on November 20 and 23 are expected to be shipped to buyers in the middle of the month. December New stock should be put on sale again soon as soon as Sony was able to build enough consoles and bring them to the European market. The goal: to put as many Playstation 5s as possible under the trees.

After the race for the PS5 on retailer sites last Thursday, which turned into a rat race and resulted in very fast inventory, there were some issues downloading games for the dematerialized version of Sony’s new console on Friday and this weekend. Several PS5 buyers have complained on Twitter. Issue: “Queued to Download” or “Viewing Details” messages appear on the screen while the requested game did not appear in the “Download” tab of the UI, as reported on the dedicated website Jeuxvideo.com. Given this bug, which mostly affected the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it was impossible to launch the game after downloading it, or even start another download. PlayStation announced on Twitter on Friday that the console needs to be updated, completely turned off, started in Safe Mode (press the power button for seven seconds and release on the second beep), and connect the DualSense controller via to USB cable and finally select the “Rebuild Database” option.

If you have had problems downloading games with queues to download or viewing details on PS5, please update the system software to the latest version, restart your PS5 in Safe Mode and rebuild the database. See “PS5: Safe Mode Options” at https://t.co/BfgPSMafxd. pic.twitter.com/Vq7m0dXA23

For the end of the year, Sony is relying on two models for its Playstation 5: a standard edition for 499.99 euros and a digital edition without hard disk drive for 399.99 euros, for which the download is therefore essential. Since the start of pre-orders a few weeks ago, the two models were faced with a lack of stock, so that the strong demand in France could not be fully satisfied. After reopening their PS5 sales on Thursday, Fnac, Amazon, Cdiscount and Cultura quickly ran into shortages on the Sony console.

Some sites like Fnac and Cultura have stated that the Playstation 5 consoles ordered this Thursday November 19th will not ship before December 15th. A date when this gift can at least slip under the Christmas tree in time for those who want to offer it. Micromania states on its website that some stores in “Contactless Pickup” will remain open to pick up pre-orders and reservations during containment. “If your reservation is late and you are not scheduled for the wave of deliveries on the first day, we will notify you of the availability of your console in the coming weeks, subject to restocking conditions and restrictions. The brand has announced delivery delays for home orders .

On Wednesday evening, some Playstation 5 buyers were informed by Fnac that the delivery of their new Sony console would be postponed due to storage problems. Aware of the disappointment this announcement could cause, the culture shop also warned these disappointed buyers that they would soon receive a voucher worth 50 euros.

And for those who haven’t been able to order, it is currently impossible to get a Playstation 5 as all resellers are out of stock. However, Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Europe, promised supplies would arrive soon: “We’re making more PS5s than PS4s at launch in this difficult environment. If people can’t find it at launch, we’re sorry. You can.” Rest assured, we are working very hard to bring vital supplies to market before and after Christmas. “In the meantime, you can go ahead and grab PS5 accessories or games while you wait to get your hands on your PS5. For example, we recommend a second DualSense controller for your future multi-party games, as well as Spider-Man Miles Morales or Demon’s Souls.

In mid-September 2020, Sony finally announced the release date of its Playstation 5 during a video conference dedicated to its new console. The manufacturer stated that the two versions of the machine would go on sale in two stages. First on November 12th in North America and Japan. Then on November 19th in the rest of the world. In France, the PS5 was therefore released on November 19th in its two models: the Digital Edition and the Standard Edition.

The Playstation 5 is available in two models: a classic model with a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc player and a model called the Digital Edition without a disc player. Logically, the PS5 Digital Edition is actually offered at a lower price than the “classic” PS5. In fact, the Playstation 5 Digital Edition is priced at € 399.99 while the Playstation 5 is priced at € 499.99, the same price as its competitor, the Xbox Series X.
