What’s up with the Lee County Democratic Executive Committee?
Yesterday, the Daily Journal had what I thought was a very odd story- the local Democratic Executive Committee was asking Lee County Schools Superintendent Mike Scott to resign and threatening to go public with details about an alleged affair if he didn’t quit by Friday. A Lee County Democratic official said, “He had an affair- on official business, which the county paid for.” Scott’s position is elected; he ran unopposed in 2007- as a Democrat. The local Democrats said he was casting a bad light on the party, but it still seemed odd for a political party to ask a superintendent to resign.
A new nugget came out today that a Lee county attorney will be suing Scott. That attorney- state Democratic chairman Jamie Franks. Franks alleges that Scott had an affair with his ex-wife (who is/ was also a school district employee). According to the Daily Journal, there is no district policy in place regarding relationships between subordinates.
According to Franks, the lawsuit will “lay out everything that was done.” Franks’ involvement became public after Eric Hampton, chairman of the Lee County Democratic Executive Committee, had been denying that Franks’ was pushing this. Franks’ still denies he was involved in this decision. Franks’ ex-wife, Lisa Franks, has stated that she felt very strongly her ex-husband was behind this.
We’ve also learned that Hampton will not say who was at the meeting when the vote asking for Scott’s resignation took place. Since this, a couple members of the committee have spoken out against the party and even resigned their position.
From the looks of it, Franks was involved and use his power to push the local party- from his home county- to get vengeance on Scott and his ex-wife.
Taylor Joins GOP In Opposing Lawsuit Against Arizona Rep. Gene Taylor apparently isn’t trying to make any friends with Barack Obama or David Hampton. Yesterday, he became the lone Democrat to sign on to a friend of the court filed by 75 other House members and five Senators opposing the Obama’s administrations lawsuit against Arizona’s new immigration policy. This is just another reason why Taylor has been- and continues to be- so hard for the GOP to defeat even in one of the most Republican districts in the nation.
Similarly, this would have been a good opening for Rep. Travis Childers to stake his ground on immigration after picking up a series of conservative-minded endorsements.
Looking at the House playing field. The Rothenberg Political Report released their latest 2010 House rankings and have moved their projections on net gains for Republicans from 25-30 seats to 28-33 seats as several other Democratic seats moved toward Republicans. All told, Rothenberg has 88 seats in play- 76 are currently held by Democrats.
MS-01 has not moved in several months since Rothenberg moved it from ‘Pure Toss-Up’ to ‘Toss-Up/ Tilt Republican.’ It is the only seat from Mississippi on the list. Some prognosticators have moved MS-04 from the safe column, but Rothenberg has not done so.

Funny. I wonder why bettermsreport.com pulled their article on this subject?!

Why is so hard for people in Ms. to understand that Gene Taylor and Travis Childres are liberals. Both have over and 80% voting record with Pelosi. Which means the way they vote on some issues means nothing. They support abortion, illegal immigration and does not support everything that Obama and Pelosi supports. It is like what part of the Bible do you support. You can’t believe part of it and not all of it. If you support sin you can’t be a Christian. The same thing with Taylor and Childres you can’t vote one way and support Pelosi and Obama. So when they vote no on somethings and support those two their votes means nothing. Just like Taylor saying he voted no on health care that is a lie. He vote yes on health care. Here is how he did. When the Bill came out of the Committee he vote yes to allow it to go forth for a full vote. He could have voted no to kill the bill, he did not. So his yes vote was for the health care bill. Taylor and Childers gets there money from the Unions and big Bus. then try to tax them. That to is BS. Why can’t you stupid people see that. Also when the Right to life came out for Childres that shows all they are for is money. They are no better than Planned Pertenthood the biggest baby killer in the world. And when NRA came out for Taylor that showed the same thing they don’t care who they support. If you vote for Talyor, Childres are Thompson you to become baby killer the same as they are. For they can not support Pelosi and Obama two of the biggest baby killers in the history of DC and not be baby killers themselves. Going to Church does not make you a Christian more than walking out in the rain makes you a rain drop. The Bible say’s you are responsible for you own actions. You need to let people know about these three people, we need to get them out of office. They are part of the problem.
I am dissappointed in Dist 1, I thought there would be a grassroots campaign and letters to the editor attacking Childers. Something in the local rags every day, but no. Childers will win in November if all of you so called conservatives remain silent. The only way is too attack, attack, attack. Use the Marxist democrats play book against them.
It’s time to get up off of dead asses and get moving. Blogging and pissing and moaning are a waste of time, get active!
