House Republicans Hire Redistricting Wiz

I heard recently that the House Republican caucus has hired John Diez, a noted redistricting expert, to handle reapportionment for the GOP. Currently, Diez is principal with Magellan Strategies and is based in Baton Rouge. I’ve been told he’ll be in Jackson for the next month or so when we get the official Census data.
How much the GOP can control is up in the air, but there are few better than Diez and his team who have worked with the RNC, as well as state parties and political campaigns throughout the country.
