Wednesday Morning Election Notebook

May 18, 2011

A couple notes on the 2011 elections…

** Dave Dennis released his first campaign spot of the election cycle, an ad that touches on the main points of his campaign platform and is designed to introduce voters to the Republican gubernatorial candidate. The ad went on the air yesterday afternoon and you can watch it here.

** Billy Hewes will celebrate the grand opening of his campaign headquarters in Gulfport this afternoon. It is located at 500 B Courthouse Road, and today’s even is from 4-6 p.m.

** Republican Attorney General candidate Steve Simpson’s campaign website is now online and live. You can check it out here.

** Among legislative races, Democrats got a candidate for the HD 10 seat being vacated by Rep. Warner McBride. Jordan Bankhead of Oxford has qualified.

** On the Senate side, I have heard a rumor that Todd Wade, a former Ole Miss football player, has qualified for the Oxford area SD 9 seat currently held by Democrat Gray Tollison. Wade has been mentioned as a potential Congressional candidate in the past.
